Stayed there in December 2016. Sweet hotel. No interaction from staff, although we arrived at about 10pm after a long journey from London there was no warm welcome from the man on the desk, not even to ask about our journey. There was a problem with our room which he promptly blamed on the travel agent and subsequently the room...

Pros: Terrific safe neighbourhood close to everything you need Very clean Large room Comfortable bed Windows that open! Excellent fitness centre Amazing friendly professional staff Free parking on 81st in front of hotel/museum - stayed 50 hours with no problem - for free! Cons: No coffee or kettle or fridge. Nice clean hotel with great front desk staff- very helpful and accommodating. Bar is comfortable and food looked very good although I didn't eat in the restaurant. Great location close to shopping, museums and cafes. Highly recommend a stay at The Excelsior

City break prior to a Caribbean cruise, The hotel is a little dated, but comfortable and spacious. Did find the staff a little stand offish. Good central location, Amsterdam Avenue, a few minutes walk, offers excellent choice or eateries. Brilliant weekend brunch though, at hotel's own "Calle Ocho" , just take care with limitless, complimentary sangria!

On both visits to New York with my family we have stayed here and I love it! The hotel is lovely the reception staff are always welcoming and friendly. The rooms are well kept and cosy. Although it's a slight walk in to the centre its right next to central park and has some lovely restaurants near by. We love...

We stayed here for two nights over Presidents' Day weekend 2017 and had an excellent stay. Our room was clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious (yes, spacious). The location was excellent being right next to Central Park (which was a big plus on a warm February afternoon), and with a subway station on the corner, low-key restaurants nearby, and Lincoln Center...

Booked this hotel mostly because of location. And it is located in great spot. Near Museum of Natural History and Central Park. Room was great, lobby is just as big as need, but stuff who is working there is unwelcome. Did not get room for me and kids, because of problem with computer and we came 30 minutes before 3,...

Several family members stayed here for two nights to attend a family wedding. The hotel is well maintained with old-world styling, yet modern with comfortable beds, and they gave us rooms near each other. (The bathroom could use an upgrade, which they have plans to do.) My room was on the 7th floor, looking out on the Museum of Natural...
