I attended a meeting in NYC and my wife found this hotel, where she stayed about 1 month before. We got a junior suite and for the price and space, it was a very good deal. The hotel has been updated from an older building, not extravagant, but clean and nice. The check-in staff was very helpful and fun when...

I've been on "hiatus" from TripAdvisor for some time. I've had several vacations/trips and stayed in many hotels, but they have been marginal or average, so I declined to review them via TripAdvisor. But our last short trip to New York changed that, as we stayed at the San Carlos Hotel. I'll take you from start to finish: Arrival inside...

This hotel has much to offer: good location, quiet rooms, good service, and a breakfast (of sorts). The decor is dated but certainly good enough. We had a two room suite which gave us lots of space and a little kitchenette area that was very convenient. It's nice to have a refrigerator for snacks, wine, cheese, etc. I hate to...

Neg- Rooms are dated, room booking said with view, but view of brick wall. Front desk at check-in didn't seem to care even after I politely explained the room view was part of my decision process to go with them. No on premise parking. Self parking 2 avenues away, not that convenient for a 4+ star hotel. Bellman got upset...

Dear ATLWorthy, Thank you for selecting the San Carlos Hotel and for taking the time to comment. I regret you were dissatisfied with your room view. We have contacted the online booking agency regarding the wording posted on their site. Many of our rooms do offer views, however some rooms located in the rear of the building, which are often...

I took a redeye and arrived exhausted and too early to check in. At the front desk was a young man named Michael who was so cordial and gracious and helpful that I knew before I left the premises I would have to let you know how valuable an employee he is. I am sorry you don't have a more...

We were here for 4 nights and were very happy with our stay. Our room was very quiet-quite a surprise in NYC. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I do wish there were a few gluten free, healthy options for breakfast other then apples...but aside from that, I would definitely stay here...

So close to 5th Ave, Park Ave. Hop on Buses and a short walking distance to Central Park Attentive staff and c to so much of what NY has to offer. A must stay for anyone that wishes to be close to the action, Restaurants, clubs and especially shopping. I agree with another review that the Continental can be better...

Premium rooms are spacious and completely furnished. They include suite style additional living room, small breakfast kitchen area and walk in closet. Very clean and well maintained, always great for a treat. Like home away from home.

We have been trying several of the boutique hotels on this street. The San Carlos is tied for first place with its only shortcoming being the continental breakfast - its just that and in our opinion could be improved upon. In every other way it was flawless - the room was meticulously clean which is extremely important to me. The...

This place is just perfect. We stayed here for 5 nights in May based on a recommendation that we had gotten from Others who had stayed there. It is so central to everywhere, it is lovely and clean and the major surprise for the location is the amount of space you get in the rooms. The breakfast Is small but...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
