On arrival, there was a club banging out their tunes REALLY LOUDLY until 4am…a couple in the room next door having the loudest sex i’ve ever heard, a room without a safe, and dirt so thick behind the bed…YUCK. So, we got moved to an upgraded room at 2am, still no working safe, but the room was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful, always greeted me with a smile and asking if you were ok. Perfect position for walking to Times Square and sightseeing. The resort fees were really good too…so yes, not a bad place to stay for a few days

Reviews on here had scared us but we have had a great stay. Beds were comfy, room bigger than expected, shower was lovely, staff helpful when needed. No issues with noise or lifts. Hotel is tired, dated, scruffy but the location is fantastic

Was very worried about staying in this hotel following the bad reviews, however the hotel was perfect for us. Slightly scruffy interior but amazing location and clean bed/bathroom which is all you need. It was a 1 minute walk from the centre of Times Square, making it close to Rockefeller and Bryant park etc ideal for Christmas time. We were on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet at night, staff were lovely also especially the cleaners. Would stay again.

Unable to get a hold of the hotel after they grossly overcharged me. The hotel is also in the lobby of a nightclub. Would not stay here again. Don’t pay for it Nothing else to say about this awful hotel

As part of a small school group (with older students) we had read some of the quite scathing reviews and were a little worried. We didn’t need to be. We arrived early, check in was quick, efficient and friendly. Also, all the student rooms were ready so that was a big bonus for us. We only stayed one night and all we needed was a central location and a clean room. And that is exactly what we got. The rooms were big enough, good shower (small bathroom but absolutely fine for what we needed). There was also coffee making facilities in the room. The negatives were the lifts, with only 2 operating you had to wait a long time to get back down but to be fair, if you are able, just take the stairs - far easier down than up. My room was quite warm and although the window did open slightly there was no way of keeping it open (I had to use something to prop it open). Apart from these few relatively small points the hotel is good. Either people have left unfair comments or the hotel has acted upon the feedback. Either way, if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel, close to Times Square, this would be a good choice. All out students and staff were happy with rooms and service of the staff.

If you want a hotel that’s perfectly located, not far from the sights of Times Square, Empire State, MSG etc then look no further than this hotel. However, if you end up with a street side room, you will categorically not sleep. The room we were in, was horrific, we never slept more than 3 hours a night and it spoilt the trip. We did ask to move, obviously. It was full. I wouldn’t return again. You might be thinking why stay at a place so close to TS if you don’t expect to hear noise, I’ve stayed at two others with sound proof rooms. That’s the difference.

We were unfortunate to visit this hotel in October 23 On arrival the front of hotel is covered in scaffolding On entering the foyer and reception there lots of people lying about and rubbish everywhere We were checking in we were offered an upgrade immediately - wonder why ! Got to our room eventually as lifts are extremely slow , took one look at the tiny smelly room and headed back to reception and took the upgrade and a cost On arrival at room 1325 looked great even had a roof terrace ! We ventured out for the day and when we arrived back at 5pm the door onto terrace was open ! The door had been forced open from outside and there was ropes from wall to wall which weren’t there before we left ! Receptionist Joanna and security Jose were useless - was informed that it would’ve been construction workers He asked if room was ok and if anything taken As far as I could see nothing was missing His reply was that’s good and then nothing no apology or room change I asked for a manager and told he wasn’t in but come back tomorrow I asked if he could call me ASAP My husband secured the door as apparently maintenance weren’t there either ! Every morning and every evening I asked for manger Mr Napolitano and he was never there ! I’m still waiting for a call and reply to several emails So please avoid this hotel Worse hotel I’ve ever stayed in !!!

This is hands down the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. When we arrived and checked in the first thing you notice when you step into the lift is how dirty and worn it is. When we got out on the 9th floor the carpets were absolutely manky. They were that dirty you would honestly be scared to sit your bag down on it. We were given room 928, right outside the lift. Instantly we weren’t happy with this, I was there to run the marathon so knew I’d need a good couple of nights sleep before then and I knew from experience in other hotels that rooms right beside a lift are never great for getting peace. I went down to reception to see if we could change rooms to be told that the only rooms available during our stay are a lot smaller and in the words of the receptionist “to be honest they aren’t any better than the one that you have been allocated”. We decided to stick it out in that room. Big mistake!!! Every time the lift opened it constantly dinged a bell….and where do I start with the room!! I opened my suitcase, took out a black jumper and sat it on the chest of drawers. When I picked it back up, it was absolutely covered in dust. My back pack was on the floor and when I picked it up the bottom of it was covered in dust and someone else’s hair that was all over the floor. The window had a wooden board covering a massive hole where you could see outside. There’s no proper blinds in the room and one morning at 8am we had guys working on the window ledge and shouting at each other. We could see out so they could clearly see in. There was a huge mould patch on the ceiling in the room, the laminate flooring was peeling up, the bathroom door handle was falling apart and the shower was hanging out the wall. I could go on and on with the list of issues. I wish I’d never booked here, it’s like they have tried to refurb the rooms at some point in the past but it’s been done so cheaply and not even a good job that it makes it look worse. The pictures of the hotel online makes it look decent and clean, but they are definitely very old pictures because the room is dull and dingy and absolutely manky. If anyone has this hotel booked, I would seriously consider changing it to some place else.

Spent multiple nights here, it is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in (we have travelled extensively all over the world and it was our first visit to NYC). The windows didn’t close properly which made the noise from the street unbearable at night, we didn’t get any sleep. The shower drain was blocked and had to limit our shower time as it would overflow onto the bathroom floor. The toilet was blocked multiple times and had to let the water sit for a while as it would eventually fix itself. The fridge in the room didn’t work, the bathroom ceiling looked like it was going to fall also in due to water damage and the room in general was quite dirty. All the above issues were raised with staff but no other rooms were available to swap too. However the daily housekeeping was great as the staff were up against it everyday trying to make a poor room presentable. The venue is in much need of renovations, very disappointed so please do your homework on this place before booking a room.

The Gallivant Times Square hotel has absolutely fantastic location. Walk to everything and great connection from and to JFK by subway. The room we had was basic. Minimalistic equipment. Only coffee maker available. No bathroom glass, or a cup for tooth brushes. No microwave. No thermostat in the room. Maintenance had to manually set the room temperature. Bed is very comfortable. Room cleaning service was great and helpful. Definitely recommending to everyone
