Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Indigo over New Years Eve. The hotel location in the lower east side is Terrific. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and shops surrounding the hotel. Sweet Chick has excellent fried chicken if you want to try it. The rooms are modern, clean

We had a wonderful experience! Christian Ribeiro offered great suggestions of what to do. Our room had an amazing view and Mr Purple’s staff was extremely helpful. The coffee makers were well stocked. The room was very clean and the lobby is amazing!

Since I was in town for work (writing about a dinner at the James Beard House) and most of the things I needed to visit were in the LES, this was the perfect headquarters for me. I called in ahead of time to let the desk know my private car wasn't gonna make it to the hotel

Well appointed room and great use of the limited room size (it is Manhattan)! Great Rooftop Bar. If you get the right room, the city views are pretty great. Great looking rooftop pool as well, even seemed to be open on Christmas eve, when we were there.

I booked to stay in the LES as a change from midtown and Chelsea areas (too touristy and this was my 9th visit to NY.) Hotel Indigo was flagged in reviews as being a good place to stay and given the cost involved I presumed it would a reasonable choice. Wrong. I'll keep it

Dear the queenofsheba, Thank you for your feedback and for choosing Hotel Indigo LES! We apologize for any inconvenience experienced during your duration. Though Mr. Purple does attract a vibrant crowd, of course we always aim to prioritize our guest experience. This is why we offer the same menu in our more relaxed Lobby Lounge downstairs, so you may dine away from non hotel patrons. As well, A Manager on Duty may always escort you anywhere on site if you feel you're having trouble gaining entry. I can assure you our door team strictly monitors the 21 and up policy by ID check. Please do let us know when you're in town next so we may restore your faith in us! Regards, Yon Guerricaechebarria Director of Rooms

What is the best and/or cheapest way to get from hotel to JFK?
The best is yellow cab with a fixed charge of $52 plus 40cents per bag. Typically one hour, but dependant on traffic. Just walk 50 yards to East Houston and wave one down. Avoid trying at 3:00pm as drivers are reluctant to stop, because taxi driver shifts change at 4:00pm. Cheapest is the MTA Subway from Essex ST/Delancey station to Sutphin Blvd/Archer Avenue, Brooklyn (J or Z line)then the Skytrain from the shared Jamaica Station into JFK. Stairs down into Essex Street, no esclators so not good if you have heavy luggage. Cost of two trips $ 2:50 plus $5:00.

What is the best and/or cheapest way to get from hotel to JFK?
You can take the train which is the cheapest or you order a Lyft (usual cheaper than Uber). As well the hotel can organize a taxi for a flat fee of approx $50 or $55. Hope that helps. Have fun!

Best to ask front desk. Rooms can't possibly have 360 view of city so have to determine where will the fireworks be held?

"Ask for a city view room"
"choose another hotel that doesn't have a roof top teen posse bar"
"we were in a south-west corner room - so amazing. try to get a room that faces south or west, and the higher floors are best."
"Ask for a room with a view. Insist on it. My room had a view of the building."
"avoid the 16th floor only because they have a restaurant/nightclub/pool etc. on the 15th floor and I imagine it could get noisy right above."
