I arrived late evening in a downpour & was graciously escorted to check-in by one of the doormen! While they don't guarantee which floor or side your room will be, my request for high floor East facing was achieved for such a room on floor 12! Gemma was full so I had a lovely late supper in the lounge replete...

The Bowery is on the lower east side and therefore avoids the worst of the noise and traffic of midtown. Quietly exclusive with great decor and dimly lit lobby bar. Excellent service. The bar can get busy with non residents but that sometimes adds to the atmosphere. Gemma's food was fine but a bit too noisy for us. Expensive but...

I love the Bowery - have stayed here 4 or 5 times...love it most in winter when the lobby lounge area is most welcoming. It is old, shabby chic and clean. You can have a great drink, breakfast or dinner in the lobby or in the attached restaurant. The bar is definitely a "scene" but it still quiet in the...

This is the place that feels like your coolest old English relative's home. Old school fixtures and vibe is perfect. Rooms are small but extremely well-appointed. Went for business and perfect location. The lobby is hotel guests only and if you score the spot in front of the fireplace you probably won't want to leave.

I have stayed at the Bowery for many years and I still get very excited when I return (indeed could just go back/forth to NY from Amsterdam just to stay at the Bowery for a couple of nights). Why, it is very simple: (a) despite me not being a celebrity (or cool) I know no hotel where I feel so...

Great location, ambience, staff. Gemma's Restaurant and the Lobby Bar are gathering places for an upscale local crowd and are consequently a great hang. Quibble: come on guys, at $555 a night you could put some coffee in the room. One additional comment, which has nothing to do with the hotel but needs to be said: state, city, occupancy and...

We love the Bowery - this was our third visit. It's in such a great part of New York. The staff have always been helpful and courteous. The downstairs bar/lounge is wonderful to relax in after a long day out and about in NYC. And the hotel restaurant is fabulous in its own right - and worth a visit regardless...

Don't be fooled by the lobby. This place is bad. Arrived, not one bellman offered to help with my bags. Checked into my room only to find a third world obsolete tiny room. When I complained I only got attitude. Room felt like a converted broom closet. No water pressure in the shower etc.. Nasty management. Last I knew was...

Dear S J, I would love to speak with you about your experience here at The Bowery. Overwhelmingly, guests seem to love our rooms and the amenities we offer. This is a very nice hotel but some of the staff make you feel that you are doing them a favour -especially on the front desk. The Bowery is so classy and elegant, yet hip at the same time. The expansive lobby is great for just hanging out, having a drink ... and Gemma the restaurant is always a fun bustling scene with great food and service. And the rooms! Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
