Hotel Mela is a small boutique hotel located a block from Times Square. For those that come as tourists, it really is a great location and close to many subway lines. The other cool thing is that it's off of Times Square where you don't...More

Although a bit cramped, and not terribly inexpensive, Hotel Mela was an ok hotel to visit. Quite convenient and clean, nice bathrooms, friendly staff. However, not cheap. Even umbrellas cost $10. Not un-recommended per se, but there are better values on Times Square I think....More
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the
affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.

They started the facilities fee last year. They all have it but you may not notice the fine print, depending on what site you book on. It is paying for the internet, fitness center and unlimited AND long distance calls, so many visitors from out of the country appreciate that. They get a lot of guests from other countries. If your travel agent didn't tell you they should have. Their own site and Expedia and all the others note the facilities fee.
