Hotel is perfectly located, rooms are small but well equipped. The Long Bar and Salu restaurant, either side of Hotel are both very good also. Where the Hotel came into its own is what happened when something went wrong. Our room had not been cleaned when we arrived, so we were immediately upgraded to a suite. The staff were brilliant,... We stayed at the Hotel Mela for two nights in July 2012, in a Superior room with queen bed. The last time we were in NY we stayed at a historic hotel, we chose to go for a more modern place this time. And in terms of service, location and decor, we have nothing bad to say! The property is... More

Stayed 2nights here. Average boutique type hotel...small yet clean. Customer service could be better. Concierge did a good job though. Location close to just about all things. We were able to walk everywhere.

We stayed here for 6 nights in April for a city break combined with business for my husband. The location is fantastic and the journey from the airport on the air train / mta was straight forward. Check in was quick and easy and our room seemed fine when we opened the door - that was until the fan outside... More

Stayed here for a quick getaway trip. Location is fantastic: right around the corner from Bryant Park (which is a great place to sit and read, people watch, get a cup of coffee, or all three), very close to the theater district and Times Square, and within walking distance of many great shops. For being that close to everything, it's... More

Best value property in the Times Square area. Clean, great beds, walk to theatre, 5th Shopping and subway within a block. Staff is friendly. I followed the Hotel Mela's own site for promotions and ended up booking a 220 sq ft room with 2 single beds with full breakfasts for 2 -$249. per night plus taxes for the room (... More

Me and My family recently stayed at the MONY for three nights. We stayed in a double room. From the registration to the valet to housekeeping and room service, service was impeccable and low key. Our room was not large, but was certainly well appointed, with a very large walk in closet and nicely done bathroom. The hotel is contemporary... More

The Mela is in a perfect location, right in the centre of Times Square. The rooms were modern but slightly small- that's what you expect in the heart of the city! The service was very good and so was the staff. We recommended this hotel to other people.

We stayed here for 4 nights, celebrating both our honeymoon and my 30th birthday. This hotel could not be in a better location to enjoy Manhattan, right in Times Square, and close to major shopping areas inc 5th Avenue. My only reason for not giving a 5 rating, is the rooms are quite small. Our first room on floor 5... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
