The good stuff about the High Line: it is in a great location - close to the High Line, the Chelsea Market, the Whitney Museum and the Rubin Museum. Our bed was comfortable. The room - on the 4th floor - was very quiet by New York Standards. The public spaces in the hotel supported a happy mingling of locals...

We love The High Line Hotel. Having stayed there three times now, it is officially our go-to place for a great place to stay in New York City. But it's not for everyone. If you want a standard hotel experience, with all the standard amenities, and standard furniture in all the standard places, you may want to look elsewhere. But...

We spent a great Mother's Day weekend at the High Line. We had 2 rooms, one on the 1st floor and another on the 2nd floor. The rooms were enormous. The room with 2 queen beds (room 20), had a massive bathroom and large, comfortable living space. Our other room (L8) had a single king and a nice seating area....

Checked in last week to this hotel having booked several months before but was disappointed by my selection and wished I'd chosen one of the others in the neighbourhood that we reviewed. I travel to NYC frequently and have stayed in many hotels (big brands / New York classics / boutique etc) but this one is definitely style over substance!...

I booked the hotel through Hoteltonight.com (recommended!) and was overall very pleased with it. We were in Room 47 and a half (if anybody can enlighten me on why the half, please do!) and although it was small, it was very nicely decorated. Only complaint was that there was a dog yapping at midnight. We'd only just got back to...

Lovely comfortable room with a huge, cosy bed to rest your weary bones. Our room had a tiny bathroom with only enough room for one person at a time, which is normal in NY apparently. The rooms have an eclectic mix of antique pieces making them very individual and a large choice of drinks and snacks but no tea-making facility....

We've stayed at the High Line Hotel three times, most recently last weekend and loved it every time. The High Line is different from any other hotel we've stayed in in New York. The location is somewhat afield from usual Manhattan locations, but is perfect for exploring the High Line, Chelsea and other hip westside neighborhoods. A former Episcopal Seminary...

Love this hotel overall but the antiques and old rugs in rooms have a very odd (i suspect mildewcide) smell. It bothered both myself and my colleague's throats/lungs. Also, the lobby gets overrun by locals and their dogs (non-guests) coming to get coffee at Intelligentsia(a coffee bar in the lobby). For almost $500 a night this seems rather intrusive. Even...

Thank you for your feedback. Rest assured that all our carpets are free of mildew and yes, they are antique carpets from Iran & Turkey. My partner and I stayed here in one room this weekend, and my parents were in another room. Overall, I'm happy to have stayed here, but not sure that I would stay here again. We stayed in this hotel as it was 100% convenient to where we wanted to be in - Chelsea, just blocks from my brother's apartment. the...

Staying in Chelsea

Neighbourhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighbourhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
