I stayed between 26th Dec 2019 and 1st Jan 2020 and looking at those dates, I was relieved that how much I paid in total equalled how much some NY hotels were charging for just one night. It was definitely budget friendly and I certainly felt it was value for money.
Some people are commenting on the size of room. Personally as a solo traveller I felt it was all I needed and it was actually bigger than I anticipated! Perfect for when you are just needing somewhere to rest your head at night. My room was always kept nice and clean by the housekeeping team and I experienced no noise problems whether indoors from other rooms or from outdoors. The only noise issue was the sound of the heater which was quite loud and I did not keep on for too long as I was concerned it may be annoying others. However, the heater itself functioned so that made me happy and I had no air-con issues like I have sometimes experienced elsewhere!
In terms of the location of the hotel, I could not have asked for more with a CVS and chains like Starbucks, Chipotle and Pret in the immediate area (not including the food court at Grand Central). Minutes from Grand Central which opened the rest of Manhattan and the other boroughs up to you by subway. Also walking distance from major attractions such as the Public Library, Bryant Park, Times Square, Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller.
Overall as a solo female traveller I felt very safe and secure both in the hotel and walking around the surrounding area. I did not speak to the hotel team often but when I did on checking in and out, they were always very helpful. Only slight surprise was a $30 security deposit each day which would be returned at the end of the stay but the hotel was open about that when checking in and it would certainly not stop me staying there again. So happy I chose to stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend. Modern, clean, budget friendly and with a great location.

I recently traveled to NYC for a class. As a grad student with a family of 4 money is ridiculously tight. So I didn't want to spend a lot on a hotel, I just wanted to stay somewhere clean and safe since I was a female traveling alone. I booked the hotel for 5-nights, 2 for sightseeing, and then the rest for the class. I paid the extra for a double-bed with a private bath. The hotel and the room were spotless. Each and every employee that I interacted with were polite, helpful, friendly, and welcoming. The hotel is centrally located. Grand Central Terminal (Station) was about a block away, which was handy for buying a little bit of cheese, meat, and fruit for enjoying in my room. There are no microwaves, refrigerators, or coffee pots. While I would have preferred to have one of each, I was happy to not have to pay the extra for those little conviences. The heater/air conditioner did a spectacular job! And it was nice to have windows on 2 of the walls. I think the space is perfect for one person. Maybe 2 people if they are young and tiny. But I would not stay there with my husband as we are both middle-aged adults with a little extra on our middles. And between our little bit of extra pudge and the extra creaks in our joints, I just don't think we'd sleep comfortably here, but it was perfect for just me. :) I would totally recommend and if I have the need to stay in Manhatten again, I won't hesitate to book a pod.

If you’re traveling alone on a budget and want to see some midtown sights, I can’t imagine anywhere better to stay. Though very small, the room is well-appointed & quite comfortable, and the service is excellent. I used both A/C and heater and both worked well. The bed was very comfortable and I fell asleep quickly. The location is obviously fantastic, yet the price is substantially lower than what you would pay at most chain hotels in the area. The in-hotel restaurant, Empellon al Pastor, is quite tasty and reasonable in price. My only complaint was the quality of breakfast offerings, which were just bagels and muffins (no go for those on keto) but there’s a solid diner less than a block from the hotel that sufficed. I will definitely be staying here again the next time I’m in NYC and highly recommend it.

Of course, your room would be small. Of course, the price would be above average. But it's a great deal for NYC. And when you choose to live right in the Downtown, you realize that it's a normal size for you room, and the price is very reasonable.
I enjoyed our stay very much. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is young and vibrant. On the first day, they offered us to leave our bags for a couple of hours, so they can check us in in a better room.
The room is clean. And despite the size (which is not too small but just small), it was very cozy. I was even able to do my morning stretching. Maybe, our window was too close to the bed, but for the warm month of October it was just fine. Speaking of window, it was as if we almost didn't have any view at all, but again, you pay for a proper room in the heart of NY.
Everything worked smoothly: bathroom facilities, TV. Nothing disturbed our sleep.
Location is perfect if you want to live in a middle of everything - easily get to both Upper Manhattan, and to Lower Manhattan, and if you don't have your favorite neighborhood where you really want to spend all the time, like SoHo, or the Village. I would say that one is ideal for people who want to see all of the city and are not ready to spend a fortune for their stay in NYC. Highly recommended.

On the positive side, the decor was funky and the main lounge area comfortable with a good atmosphere and various games to play. Service varied from highly positive and welcoming to sullen and disinterested. The no frills rooms were clean and functional - perfect for sleeping and freshening up but an extra cover or blanket would have been useful. The glass doored shower rooms, whilst understandable for extra light, did not provide the privacy I would have liked!Very noisy air conditioning kept us awake first night but we turned it off overnight for the rest of our stay. Food was a little expensive but tasty, (ate mostly at Scotty's Diner on the corner - great value and food!) on the whole the location was great - easy walk from Empire state, Grand Central, The Rock, Times Square etc and reasonably priced.

We stayed as a couple at Pod 39 in December 2019 in a mini bunk pod room.

The room was basic and very small but had everything we needed and was modern and very clean. And obviously, visiting New York we never planned to spend a lot of time in the room!

The bunk beds were actually comfy had no issue sleeping. The only thing we did notice was the heating in the room, if turned on would get overly warm quite quickly, probably due to the room sizes being so small but this was easily fixed by turning the heating off.

The hotel itself was very clean and modern, the bar downstairs was great with friendly bar staff and the location of the hotel was perfect (very close to grand central and roughly 15-20 min walk to Times Square).

Overall, enjoyed our stay here and did exactly what it said on the tin! For the price too we was pleasantly surprised and found it to be perfect for our needs.

Would recommend and would stay again if returning to NY.

This hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance to Grand Central Station, 5th Avenue, Times Square, Broadway District, UN, etc. The housekeeping staff is excellent, they cleaned our room daily without any need for follow up. The bed was firm and comfortable so we were able to sleep well.
The room safe was convenient and sized so that it could easily accommodate our laptop. This was the first stay for my wife and I in a Pod hotel, we had a Queen Pod but it was still a tight fit in terms of the two of us moving around our room at the same time. The room could have used a few more outlets for charging of devices such as cell phones, iWatchs, laptop etc. The bathroom could have used 1-2 shelves for hygiene/toiletry items for which there was room to install. When we booked our room in early August the hotel website advertised a Mexican restaurant but when we arrived it was permanently closed, this was disappointing because we looked forward to some Mexican food and drinks at our hotel during our NYC stay. We chose to stay here because at the time of booking other hotels in the same area were $100-150 more per night. In retrospect, having a bit more space would be nice and so maybe points out the need to hunt further in advance for a more suitable hotel.

Room was minimalist, quite comfortable, quiet, neat shower. You need your room card key to get the elevator to your floor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was amazing how much they fit in the small room. You had everything you needed, tv, shower, sink, toilet, our room had windows looking out. Compared to the big hotels, it was very reasonable. You can walk there from Grand Central Station, or the bus from the airport. I know we will stay there, next time we get called to the city.

My stay was good. Staff are very helpful and professional. The facility is well situated with easy access to several places within walking distance.
Cleanliness is great. Bedding and towels are of good quality, clean and white.
Management should consider providing body lotion and also water kettles in the rooms.

Disfrutadlo!!
