Well, I won't write a detailed review because the "Jun 12, 2005" review tells everything very much in the way that I saw it (not sure about the mirror and no problems with bugs). My girlfriend and me, both in our late twenties and used to hotel and B&B accommodation, found no problem with it. The rooms are small, the... More

This is the worst hotel I've ever seen! It's true that the hotel is very cheap, but the problem is that it does not have the minimum level to be considered a decent place. I had made a reservation for one week and, when I arrived there and saw the place, I didn't stay there even for the first night.... More

Watch out - waking up in this hostel might be a nightmare. We stayed in Bowery White House for about 4 days in 2003, and thought that the hostel was quite ok considering the affordable price, and the strange feeling of safety (although our room's old doorlock had been repaired with a q-tip...). But the most horrible thing was that... More

Never stayed in a hostel before and was not used to the flow. I've travelled all over, and for the exact same price ($27.25) stayed in a great place in Paris with a bad, sink, and a great view. The Bowery White House is incredibly, laughably small. But, it's better than what I've read about community style hostel rooms where... More

You know, considering they charge about $28, this place is really excellent. For one thing, it's clean and well-organized. The management doesn't tolerate riff-raff. The tiny room is fine for sleeping in. The important thing is that the management encourages SILENCE at night, which is what makes the whole place liveable. It's in a great location, and since many HOTELS... More

My friend and I booked a room for 3 nights at the Bowery's Whitehouse Hotel of NY. They required payment up front for the entire stay, then we were allowed to go to our room. The hallway was barely wide enough for a single person and a suitcase, and the door to the room was maybe 30 inches wide. Inside... More

I stayed here last November not realizing that it was more like a flophouse than an acutal hotel. This is great for someone really young, but if you are over 25 and want any sort of privacy or comfort do not book here. The wall dividers don't go all the way to the top of the ceiling and the beds... More

Believe me, when I reached my 'room' at the Bowery, a couple of years ago now, the thought, 'what have I done?!' did cross my mind. As a single female, travelling to NY for the first time, and on my own, I had tried to be quite careful about where I booked; from the website, the place looked clean and... More

I am so suprised to see the bad reviews of this hostel!? because that is what it is a hostel! don't expect five star luxury if you are paying rock bottom prices. I went with my friend and as two young women in new york we were a bit daunted from a safety point of view. Although we had booked... More

I wouldn't consider myself a woman of high maintenance however, The Whitehouse was not a place I would ever think of staying in again. If you are someone who is sensitive (as in being very in touch with your senses) Do not go there. I just got back and am still recovering from the energy I picked up. This hospital... More
