We just came back from another delightful stay at CHI and found nothing lacking. As frequent visitors to New York City we have to stay in other hotels when Colonial House is full (tip: book early). Compared to other bed and breakfasts in the area you can't beat this place for economy, cleanliness, friendliness and location. The newly renovated roof...

hotel is on a pretty tree lined street., perfect locale. I stayed in a room w/ 1 double bed/shared bath. The mattress was soft, but comfy. The pillows were very hard. No curtains, 1 large blind that was very frayed/dingy and didn't eliminate light from the room. AC worked well, but the front of the AC was very dirty. TV...

From the very beginning, I knew I had found a gem in the small place in NYC, Chelsea. It is called the Colonial House Inn. As soon as I called, I was engulfed with much information about the Inn. My family and I arrived in late June in the HEAT, and what a relief it was to go to our...

I certainly did not have the experience that many reviewers had. I found this inn to be worn down. Passed on breakfast as it wasn't anything special and coffee was lukewarm (served from a canister). The breakfast/check-in desk area of the inn is small and crowded. On my way to my room I saw a cockroach scurry across the carpet....

I just arrived home from my three week stay at the Colonial House Inn. The one thing that I was a little bit apprehensive about before arriving was the shared bathrooms. However, most times they were very clean, and on the rare occasion that they weren't, I simply walked down one flight of stairs to another one. Nine times out...

This hotel is really cool! I usually stay at big chain hotels but I am glad I didn't this time!! The hotel is very cute and cozy. Great price on rooms. The breakfast was very filling, not just your typical donuts and cereal. We got the small ecomomy room, which was very small but all we needed since we were...

We just returned from a very enjoyable 4-day stay at the Colonial House Inn. There were 4 members in our group (1 teenager, 1 young adult), and the Garden Suite met our needs perfectly. Cleaned daily, the Garden Suite had a living room (with sofa bed & fireplace), refrigerator, separate bedroom w/king-size bed, and doors leading to your own private...

This hotel/B&B is in a charming brownstone in the hip neighborhood of Chelsea. It's very close to the subway and vibrant nightlife, but the street is quiet and feels residential. I stayed in a "Superior" room with a private bathroom. The room was small, but this was no surprise for NYC where rooms are no bigger than closets. The bed...

Staying in Chelsea

Neighbourhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. As a longtime hub of gay culture in New York City, it’s also a diverse district with a vibrant nightlife scene. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighbourhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
