The Hilton New York Times Square offers travelers a prime location in the heart of the city, with many guests praising its proximity to key attractions and transit. While the hotel receives compliments for its stylish rooms and cleanliness, some reviewers caution about outdated decor and the need for refurbishments. Service quality appears to vary, with reports of both attentive staff and unresponsive encounters. Guests appreciate the spacious rooms with city views but are often taken aback by unexpected fees and overpriced amenities.

I was very pleased with my stay at the Hilton Times Square. First off, the location is perfect, right off of Times Square as well as the subway connection there is perfect to be able to to anywhere in the city. So this hits all the points for location. Next, the Hotel rooms, spacious, well appointed and on floors 22 -44, so great views, particularly on the upper floors. I was on floor 36 with a great view south, Empire state building right outside my window. Staff, all great, respectful and were always glad to assist; great team. I was recognized as a Diamond member; check. The only downside was the price of a full breakfast; 50 USD (plus tax). that I find a bit pricey, but the only minus point. I fully recommend staying here.

Looking for the best experience for our 25th anniversary, the deal for this stay first popped out of the list on the Hilton website because of its location.

The reviews were very good and we had a true Hilton Honors experience, from the front door to the 35th floor view of uptown.

Security, safety and friendly courtesy are obvious priorities of the front desk and also of the team that cares for the halls and rooms.

The room was spotless and we relaxed upon arrival with a pleasant aroma and a sterile bathroom with modern and new design features.

The bed and pillows were soft and very clean. Each day we arrived was a similar experience with very a friendly cleaning team always greeting us and offering to help.

The price was shockingly competitive and the location was perfect to get the subway anywhere and easy to get back to hotel.

Although surrounded by the hustle and bustle of Times Square, steps from the Theater and Garment Districts (and an easy walk to Madison Square Garden), the hotel begins on about the 20th floor, so there's no street noise at all. Checking in and out was a breeze even though the hotel was full. The "deluxe" rooms are on higher floors with better views. (I recommend you ask for a room with a downtown view (of the Empire State Building and beyond); on the other side of the hotel, the tall buildings obscure the view.) Our room was clean and comfortable; if you ask, they will provide bathrobes. The staff was friendly and efficient, and very helpful recommending nearby places to eat and patiently giving directions for those venturing out on foot. We didn't try the restaurant in the lobby, but self-serve fresh coffee is available at no charge in the morning (there are also 2 Starbuck's within a block).. Note that room service ends at about 10:00 pm. We really enjoyed the location and being able to walk to our destinations--which not only saved money, but was faster than a taxi.

We always use the Hilton Group when travelling because you know more or less what you are getting. I have to say I have been disappointed on this occasion.

I had big hopes for this Hilton because I also know people who had stayed here.

Firstly the elevators are the worst I have ever encountered in any hotel group I have ever been in they crawl from floor the floor and every noise and bump can be heard.
The doors on one did not open and after frantically pressing the release button it opened! I could have passed out with fright! The reception staff did not seem to bothered asked what one it was and said they would have it looked at! We were in and around no one was seen looking at it. The small square door on the right hand side of one was burst open with access to different buttons and things!
Doors on one of them looked like it had previously been forced open! I am on my last night but feel ever-time I get in one I might end up stuck!

The service hasn’t been great either, I understand it’s been New Year and very busy but customers shouldn’t have to suffer because the hotel is busy! Example Room service on 31/12/2019 ordered around 9.20 and it was delivered 12.30 our hungry children were sleeping by this time. We did call twice to check we were told 10 minutes on each occasion. We had tried to call prior to 9.20 but were put on hold or cut off constantly.
The same approach being placed on hold is common when trying to contact guest services or reception to ask or enquire about things.

There is no mini bar so being able to contact room service is vital! After a busy day walking from one part of New York we just wanted to have room service and relax with our children but it was stressful trying to reach the relevant departments due to the reluctance to answer calls for long periods of time!

I have had to ask every day for water to be put in our room and this request hasn’t been honoured even when requested! I had to resort to contacting staff through Facebook because no one was answering the phone!

We are Hilton Diamond members. We love to use the Hilton group whenever we can but I would not return to this one!

I will be booking a trip to the Hilton resort in Malta to relax where the staff are amazing the elevators don’t terrify the life out of me every time I get in it and room service is delicious and arrives without cause without the ordering process driving you off your head!!!!!!

The breakfast this morning also only had orange juice not one other fruit juice drink not a banana in sight either! I thought it weird but since I am on a roll thought I would mention it!!!

I originally wrote a review of this hotel in 2012 and gave it 5 stars. Has it withstood the test of time? Yes. I continue to be amazed at the friendliness of the staff and the fact that it is located right in Times Square but manages to take you above the sometimes chaotic atmosphere of the streets below. The hotel has entrances on both 41st and 42nd streets. So, if you want the bright lights, go out on 42nd street. If you want to avoid the crowds, use the 41st street exit. I’ve stayed at many hotels in Midtown Manhattan and this continues to be my preferred hotel and location for business and family trips. An often overlooked advantage is that this hotel sits on top of most major subway lines in the city. So, you can get anywhere quickly and cheaply. Obviously being in the Times Square area, the hotel is close to entertainment and restaurants galore.

Beyond the ideal location, the hotel features some of the largest rooms in the City (and it has connecting rooms which have been great for family vacations; just be sure to speak with the hotel to make sure you reserve the right types of rooms). The hotel is clean, comfortable and really calm for a large, popular hotel in a prime location. And, again, the thing that really sets this hotel apart is the friendliness and accommodating nature of the staff. They are amazing.

My friend and I took our three teenage daughters to New York for a girls weekend. Honestly the service here was above and beyond for some small town girls clueless in this city. We arrived at 4 am after driving all night only to be greeted by the friendliest of faces, Dwayne. Dwayne, knowing we drove all night, made every effort to get us in a room as soon as possible... even tho check in wasn’t for another 12 hours, he allowed us to use the lobby restrooms to get freshened up, and he just made us feel so welcomed and valued. He even email my husband who was not with us to let us know when he was able to get us in a room early. Never once made us feel like a nuisance with our questions and super early arrival! And when we checked out super early a couple mornings later there was our smiling Dwayne to help us yet again. He was able to get our car promptly and help arrange for someone to get all our bags. He genuinely made us feel like he was happy to help. Then next person at Hilton who we truly just wanted to leave work and come be our personal tour guide was Val. Val is a total asset to this company y’all. This man had maps and suggestions for days to help basically plan out our days while in New York. The man even helped to try and set up reservations at restaurants for us and we didn’t even ask him to do that. He sent us to the best places for desserts, attractions for the girls, shopping, and even the best way to get there. We thought for sure he would be sick of us asking him a billion questions but he acted like he had known us forever and really just wanted to help us make the most of our time in our short stay. Val you are so appreciated and we thank you!
While the hotel itself was wonderful and in the perfect location for why we were there (to see a show of course), really what stood out the most is the service we were given by the staff. I’ve always heard about how rude New Yorkers are and how annoyed they get with tourist but we experienced nothing like that here. Nothing but caring and willing to help. So Hilton management if you read this, for real, our new friends Dwayne and Val more than deserve some credit for making our stay as great as it was. These two sweet helpful men deserve a shout out, bonus, or something bc they are both amazing humans. We thank you for making such a fun memorable weekend for us and our girls!

Excellent location. Room is big & clean. Housekeeping doesn't top up amenities, room tables not wiped. Front desk awful. I arrived at 7am no effort made to inform housekeeping or contact me when a room is available. People who came at 2pm managed to check in earlier than me. I had to join the queue several times just to check if a room is available. Eventually only checked in at 3pm -disappointing! $30 resort fee makes you "obliged" to spend it at the Bar ($20) and Coffee Cart ($10). This does not cover tip which you are obliged to give. As for Coffee Cart, I suggest guests beware on the day you checkout, the staff tends to charge all the amount you have spent to "tip" and they hope u don't notice the bill. this happened to me twice as I checked in and out twice. Pls check your bill! The hotel also keeps charging and reversing bills leading to several unnecessary conversion fees on our credit card if we are from overseas. And they did that even when I paid in full by cash!

Love this hotel. Location is superb and the staff is formidable! From the minute you enter the Porters make you feel welcome, up the elevator to the main lobby and you are greeted by a professional staff, especially Loretta, who will make sure your stay is perfect. Nice touch having the coffee kiosk with breakfast goodies in the mornings. The night bartenders are very efficient considering the many customers that come in late. Stayed four nights and wish i could have stayed longer.

Our room was nice, typical Hilton. We had a corner room so was very roomy for two people. Clean and housekeeping did a good job of keeping it that way. Hallways are clean and quiet. Felt safe in that there is staff at the downstairs entrance to the elevators and you have to walk past the front desk to get to the next bank of elevators. This hotel charges the outrageous "Destination Fee" of $30 per day, but at least they give you a $20 bar credit an $10 restaurant credit to ease the pain. Other hotels in NYC don't give you anything of real value back. The bar serves nice drinks and is lively. The restaurant is okay for breakfast with buffet selections. We had dinner there one night. Nothing special or memorable. The wait staff needs to pay more attention to customers. They tend to congregate near the kitchen area and get quite involved in conversations and are hard to signal because there is a wall between the tables and the place where they stand. I would return to this hotel.

Stayed one night at the end of New Year’s week for some shopping, sightseeing, and the Christmas Spectacular at radio city so we crammed a lot into two days. The location of the Hilton Times Square is perfect between 41st and 42nd streets and Eighth and Seventh Avenues. You can enter the street level lobby from either 41st or 42nd then elevator up to the “Sky-lobby” on the 16th floor. The area is somewhat small but well appointed and comfortable while you wait for your room. Floor to ceiling windows overlook 42nd street and you can enjoy a drink from the bar, relax, and enjoy the view. The small restaurant aptly named “Above” is Zagat-rated and we enjoyed our lunch there after checking in. Our room on the 36th floor was very clean and spacious, especially for New York City and looked out over Times Square from above 42nd Street. We had a king bed that was very comfortable with cozy sheets. The room included a work desk, easy chair with ottoman and flat screen television. The bath is a little cramped with not enough counter space to lay out any toiletries but not a show stopper with a nice shower with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The concierge was always helpful and we were able to store our bags after checking out so we could go out to shop and have lunch before departing for the airport late in the afternoon. We liked our stay enough to rebook for valentines weekend so we do recommend the Hilton Times Square anytime you’re in New York. Additionally, if you plan to book a room it is worth the effort to join Hilton Honors and use the app.
