YOTEL New York Times Square garners mixed feedback, with its prime location near Times Square being a highlight for guests seeking easy access to city attractions. However, some guests have experienced noise disturbances, and many find the rooms to be cramped and showing signs of age.
The hotel's service and amenities often fall short of expectations, with additional charges and underwhelming features leading to disappointment. While the hotel's cleanliness is generally adequate, inconsistencies do surface, affecting guests' overall impressions of their stay.

Hotel very good location only about 5 mins walk to a subway station and onto Time Square, we were on an arranged 4 day break through a travel agent so we had resort taxes and breakfast included , they did charge for resort taxes but we were refunded once they had double checked and also at breakfast they explained the fees but once we said our room number it was included, the breakfast was the same offerings the whole time but you got a choice or bread basket with toast and a croissant, fruit platter and another item then help your self to pancakes , scrambled eggs, bacon and something else , coffee / tea and juice were brought to you my staff, I found it good quality. The rooms are small but bed goes down but shower / loo in like a glass square in corner of room and sink outwith , but the room was comfy not as noisy as I thought it might have been and I found the bed & pillows comfy so slept not to bad !
We had drinks in the hotel bar a few nights - staff expect tips even for just bringing you your drinks.
The hotel was only 30mins from Newark Airport so I thought for location for a city break it was good and would happily stay again , I found the staff helpful and friendly , the receptionist rang our transfer company for us to arrange pick up time.
You leave your luggage in a robot system until you leave we had issue with one of our larger cases so security guard said they could store luggage for $2 a case so it worked out ok for two cases , the other two went into robot hold.
A few people have mentioned smell of weed etc but tbh we smelt that all throughout the city , it was prominent wherever we went - stank !!
Location wise I would definitely staff here again as was straightforward getting around the city from this base.

We were a bit apprehensive before our stay at Yotel after reading some mixed reviews prior to our trip to New York. However our worries were totally unfounded. Our stay was very enjoyable indeed. We stayed in a 'premium queen' cabin. Whilst fairly small it was perfect for a four night stay, the bed was extremely comfortable, (room was tidy and bed sheets replaced every day) with a shower room, toilet, wash basin, iron & ironing board, hairdryer, large tv, bedside desk with four charging USB points. We had read that the bed extended via a button and when it was fully extended there was no room to walk around the end of the bed. This is NOT true, there was plenty of room for you to comforatbly walk past should the need arise in the night. After a hectic day sightseeing around the City, the rooftop bar and lounge on the 4th floor was the perfect venue to unwind and relax before bed. There was a small but decent choice of snacks, meals & desserts to choose from for a reasonable price. The staff were excellent from the check in guys on duty in the lobby to the waiting on staff in the bar & lounge. There was a small kiosk (also on level 4) where you could grab a coffee and a pastry before heading out for the day. We didnt use the robot with regards to our luggage storage on our departure day but for a fee of just $2 per bag, the staff lablled up and stored our luggage for us until our taxi to the airport picked us up. This was another service the guys on reception sorted for us, they booked us a taxi for a flat fee of $85, this may sound a bit high but our fee from the airport to the hotel (with the familiar yellow taxis) was just over $100 including toll fees and tip. The location was really good, with Times Square being just under a mile away. For any able bodied person this was a 10-15 minute walk. With my mobility not good at all and my wife not a fan of the subway, I downloaded an app called My Transit and this proved to be an invaluable tool for getting around the City by bus, just find the route for your desired location, get on at the recommended bus stop, all within 25 yards of the hotel entrance and scan your phone (if you have a google pay etc) or your credit/debit card and get across the City for the equivalent of 89p.
All in all we would definitley recommend a stay at the Yotel and would like to thank all the staff for their help and kindness.

First time to NY and booked here as cheap and cheerful plus location seemed ok. When you arrive its a very hostel type feel with some nice modern tech touches like a robotic luggage rack. Staff were there and friendly upon checking but all done on the app or the desktop PC in the foyer. Rooms were very small and compact but also very clever, bed remotely goes up during day for more room, shower, toilet all just glassed of but its only somewhere to stay overnight not to be in all day so for us was perfect. We had to move rooms as the safe wasn't working but staff are all extremely helpful. water dispenser only on one floor though same with ice so lift ride for water etc. My biggest issue is the location as it says times square but it really isnt, its at least a 15 - 20 min walk to actual times square but its next to the hudson and UUS Intrepid. For us, it was a good location away from other tourist areas but good shops and access to subway close by so be advised that I would stay here agin but its not as close to things as they make out. View from both our rooms was of empire state. I would stay here if its your fist time to NY as you get to walk around a bit and see things outside the normal tourist bits.

I found YOTEL online and the couple of reviews I saw were good. I only booked for one night. When my partner and I got to YOTEL we went straight to the self check in kiosk. The kiosk was not working for us and other guests so the kind YOTEL team told us exactly hat to say to the people at the front desk to check in, seems like this happens often. Once we got checked in we headed to our room. As soon as we walked into our room there was a strong odor of mildew, the sheets had an ink stain on them, there were no towels, and we noticed the room was very hot. Once we sanitized everything my partner went downstairs to let the staff know about the quality of our room. They assured us that they would change our sheets and an engineer would look into the thermostat. We left to explore for a couple of hours and when we came back to our room to rest for a little bit it was even hotter! The sheets were changed at least but it still smelled off. We checked the thermostat and it was set to AC at 68 (the lowest it can go) degrees but the room temperature was 79 degrees. We opened the window and thank god it's on the bottom so we could feel a lull breeze come through. For the price we paid and the area the hotel is in, I expected more bang for my buck. The staff were very friendly but the rooms were awful. I wish we could have enjoyed our stay but unfortunately I don't think I will be booking or referring anyone here ever.

We stayed at YOTEL for 5 nights - in this time we discovered that the room has a tired look with multiple stains on the surfaces, the bed had ripped at the sides, there was mould in the shower, and the walls are extremely thin meaning you can hear things such as constant door slamming (or screaming during the night which we experienced on night 1).
The location is close to Times Square, but the direct surroundings of the hotel can be quite rough with many homeless people roaming, so be careful, especially at night.
The yobot although a nice feature, kept breaking down so it was rather pointless, (Be aware of this if needing to pick luggage before a flight). Staff offer to take you bags for a small fee if needs be.
Staff interaction was minimal, check in and check out is extremely easy.
The bed was comfy and also made every day which was nice, even when we left the room a little bit later.
Overall it’s a decent hotel if you’re on a budget, personally we wouldn’t stay here again.

Exmos. Gentlemen, My stay at the “Yotel” in New York was excellent! It has a privileged location, a short distance from Times Square, which makes it much easier to visit the strategic points of the city. The rooms are modern, comfortable, with good use of the space, in addition to the spectacular view they have, both to the river and to Manhattan. Not only, but also most important yet to highlight, was the exceptional service of the staff, from the staff to the management, a whole logistics and organization, of extreme cordiality and attention to the customer, in a very helpful and welcoming way, which makes the stay extremely pleasant. Those looking for comfort and a friendly atmosphere, feel comfortable at the “Yotel”. Congratulations! Thank you very much All right! Helena Quiet

We stayed in Yotel 17/11/23-21/11/23 during our first time visiting NYC. I'll be honest given what we paid we really couldn't fault the hotel, the only reason it's not a 5/5 is there's a couple minor things that could be improved upon. First of all the location is fantastic, 10minutues walk from being in the heart of Times square, 20minutes from Central park and an easy walk from the subway station if you're travelling public transport from JFK like we did. We had room 1912, I requested a room with a city skyline view and as high as possible before we had to pay deluxe room prices and that's exactly what we got. Onto the room itself, an iron and a hairdryer were included and the room was clean, the bed we found comfy and loved you could turn it into a sofa with 1 push of a button, spacious shower and decent level of storage for a 4 day stay. The only things we felt let it down was the room was warm even with the air con on its lowest setting so we kept the window open, meaning you heard all the sirens of NY (however after walking 12miles a day it tended not to interrupt your sleep). Some of the finishing were a little worn e.g. bits of edging missing etc, and finally there was no refrigerator in the room. One thing that was disappointing was the advertised terrace never seemed to be open, not sure if we just kept missing it or not but the outdoor seating was always covered over.
The robot luggage storage facility was easy to use and the reception guys were not fussed about how long you left your luggage stored, which was helpful as we checked out at 11 and didn't need to head up to JFK until after 3. Also when it actually comes to checking in you can literally do it all yourself on one of the check in screens.
Overall a really great stay at Yotel, they delivered on my request, the location was us first timers was excellent and there were plenty of amenities within comfortable walking distance. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to rebook should the opportunity arise. For the British tourists my best comparison is it's a Premier Inn with frills.

the overall hotel is good, it is clean and the rooms small but still nice. Where the hotel fails is the service from the reception. On all floors it is on the wall that there is a water and ice machine, when you then go to half the floors there are no water or ice machine, this is what it is, but when we were there the water machine/ice machine on floor 12, 18, 20, 22 and 24 did not work, we informed this to the reception multiple times, but nothing happened, so luckily the one at floor 16 worked, so we had to go up and down 6 floors to get to a working machine. Next thing is that all rooms have chromecast, which is a nice service.....if they actually worked. we were there for 8 days, and we informed the reception 4 days in a row, the message from the reception was that they were sorry, and they would call an engineer, the "engineer" came to the room, what he then did was disconnect the chromecast, and then connected it again, and ofcourse this did not fix the problem(lost network). The engineer then informed that he would send the case to IT, and they were supposed to fix it the next day. The next day we talked to the reception again, and they said the same thing as the day before, we will get an engineer to take a look, no change that day, we again talked to reception, and they would get a hold of IT, but after 4 days of this, we even got a new room, but here the chromecast was also not working, then we just gave up. I guess this hotel is used to very short stays, so that they can just say "we will look into it", and then people leave the hotel, but when you stay for a long time, it gets very old very fast to hear "we are terribly sorry, we will look into it" but nothing is actually done. Looking away from the personnel in the reception, then the rest was quite good, cleaning personnel was super friendly and nice, they were by far the most positive thing. For the price it cost I would look other places next time, and not having to get frustrated with people not really wanting to do their job, you can find same quality for much cheaper

Not a horrible stay, but everything about this place feels like it was nice 5 years ago and really needs some touch-ups/upkeep/maintenance. The staff was friendly and helpful, and everything appeared to be clean, but when I looked around, things like paint and furniture were a little dinged up, worn, and scuffed up. The TV was old and small, with a very slow moving menu. The HVAC vent cover had loose screws and it rattled every time the air conditioning kicked on. The shower was good and the bed was comfortable.
We paid extra for a corner room, which was decent size by NYC standards when you're near Times Square (we paid similar money at Citizen M last year for a smaller room). As far as the layout, I have two complaints. First, there was zero counter space in the bathroom. There were places where a simple shelf could have been mounted, but no one made this effort, so we had nowhere to place a shaving kit or make-up bag other than the toilet tank lid. The biggest annoyance was the bathroom door, which was just a large glass sliding "barn door" style affair that had a large gap all the way around it. My wife and I are intimate, but we don't like to feel like the other person is in the room while going #2. An actual door would have been a welcome upgrade to "hey, can you turn the TV volume up so I don't feel so weird about this?"
The terrace area was a really nice spot to relax after a day of running around the city. The drink service was slow despite it not being busy, but our server was friendly.

Good value for money. We stayed for 3 nights and it was very easy to check in / out. Leaving luggage if you need to check out is very easy and efficient and we paid $6 to leave 2 suitcases. The rooms are small (but manageable) and there is no seperate bathroom it is just portioned off the sleeping area. I wish there was a curtain or something to separate as I shared with my sister so was quite awkward! The toilet door also did not stay closed. Room was quiet on a night, not much street noise. We would use this hotel again and great way to go to NYC on a budget.
