We enjoyed a delightful stay at the Canal Park Inn for 11 nights (one of our pilgrimages to Broadway - we saw 9 shows). The Sinnot suite was perfectly adequate for our needs, very quiet at night even though facing the street (triple paned glass windows) and provided nooks and crannies enough for us to stash away three large suitcases...

This was my 3rd time in New York and it was my best sleep so far. I read a lot about guesthouse hosts that say they like to meet and help the guests, but that's nothing compared what you can expect from Sarah and Kipp... They were awesome, the best hosts ever!!! The place is very cool, the rooms are...

On a note of caution: if you are seeking the full hotel experience, this is not the place. It is a bed and breakfast. But it is an excellent, outstanding one. The suites are very large. My, the Denot suite, had a kitchen area (fridge, microwave, coffee maker and water boiler, plus all kitchen utensils), the bedroom, a lounge with...

We spent 4 nights at the inn-the property was about what we expected from the website and previous reviews. Kip and Sarah Doe were great! Both did everything we asked of them to make our stay pleasurable. The breakfast was adequate to start the day. The location is very convenient -close to the subways and other nyc attractions. We stayed...

I chose the Canal Park Inn because there were three of us staying together. We were in the Batby Suite and had plenty of room. If we were there longer than 2 nights we would have enjoyed having the kitchen but we were not in the room enough to utilize it. For people looking for a super modern state of...

We just completed a five night stay at this Inn. We enjoyed it thoroughly and were happy to stay there. Kipp and his lovely daughter Sara-doe made us quite welcome. The suites we stayed in, the Batby and the Denot were very comfortably and roomy, especially the Batby which had good kitchen, washer, and dryer. The location in Tribeca works...

We're thrilled that you enjoyed your stay! Thanks for these supportive words and we hope you two and your friends will return again. (Maybe for the next reunion?) One of the great things about The Batby/Denot Suite pairing is that they can be two totally private suites, or you can treat them almost like joined suites, since they are the...

This was my wife and my second stay at the Canal Park Inn. We loved our stays. Both times were in the Sinnot Room which has a small kitchenette and separate room with a TV. I found it remarkably quiet for New York, convenient, and home-like. Sarah-Doe and Kip, owner, manager, and morning chefs are delightful. They feel a bit...

I have never written a negative rewiew, but am afraid this is going to be the first, and based on our experience, find some of the reviews we read prior to booking this b&b, hard to believe. First, the pros: The Inn is conveniently located for walking to dining, downtown Soho, the 9/11 museum, and Battery Park. Our suite, the...

Hi Sue, What a pity that you and Peter did not enjoy your stay - we had no idea! I loved speaking with you in the mornings and hearing about the small town you live in, and reminiscing about my time living in a farming town. It does sound like a hotel is what you were looking for, so if...

We rented the Kennedy Room for three nights. The photo on the website has been retouched to eliminated the 5 inch plastic ceiling to floor waste pipe and the knot of TV cable on the wall to the left of the bed. The windows are not triple glazed but they do open to allow fresh air. Arrival was early and...

We're sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. As we discussed in the emails you sent after your visit, your expectations were well outside our policies, as clearly described on our site and in our reviews here. However, we certainly did what we could to make your stay as wonderful as possible, and even did what we could to...

The Canal Park Inn was our home for 4 amazing days in New York. Staying in TriBeCa

Neighbourhood Profile
TriBeCa
What’s in a name? In this case it is the unique title of “Triangle Below Canal Street” that became a popular nickname in the 1970s. An attractive neighbourhood filled with handsome lofts on the edge of the Financial District, this lovely slice of Manhattan offers plenty of fine dining experiences and art galleries. Plus, it’s home to the city’s most exciting film event, the Tribeca Film Festival, that takes place here every year. TriBeCa is a great place to take a leisurely stroll before stopping into one of the many local restaurants or bars for a satisfying meal and cocktail. You’ll see families out for an afternoon walk, and don’t be surprised to come up with the occasional celebrity sighting. With such a great vibe, many of the city’s most famous residents call this neighbourhood home.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled on the border of Soho and Tribeca, our landmarked 1826 Canal House is ideally situated for experiencing the best New York has to offer—and still having a quiet place to call home at the end of the day. Surrounded by 5-star restaurants and a block away from the landscaped parks, open grass, tennis courts, and stunning sunsets at the Hudson River Park, we strike a perfect balance between nature and culture. The Osborne’s have owned 508 Canal Street since 1980. In this building, they raised their daughter, providing the building with family history built into the very walls. (Behind a renovation wall on the top floor of the building is hidden a mural painted by children at a particularly creative third birthday party.) The beds and several end tables in the Inn were built by Kipp Osborne, coming from the days when he and his wife, Margot, were furniture makers in Soho and Tribeca. ... more   less
