My husband and visited NYC for the first time in November. We originally tried to acquire an Air B&B single unit months in advance, but found this process very disappointing. I subsequently booked a Hilton chain hotel for 4 days at a total of $1200. Then a co-worker shared a friends recent experience of staying at the Leo House for... More

I came to New York city for a Braodway show, I didn't come to sleep. It's small, I don't care, I just needed a clean bed and a clean shower/bathroom to have when I came to sleep. It has Wifi, great for me to contact back home. It has noise, HELLO, it's New York city, so I don't care, I... More

This was my first experience at Leo House. What a treasure in Manhattan, exceptionally safe, well-located. It is a lovingly-cared for older hotel. I had a private single room and bathroom. I was not prepared for the breakfast room! Many visitors there already, early in the morning. A decidedly European "feel" and actual experience. I sat with 3 Norwegian young... More

I decided to come back to Leo House after 18 months and was happy. The room is still very basic and has its shortcomings but the good now far outweighs the bad. The location, price and overall value are excellent and majority of the staff are great. I must thank the Guest services Manager Lucy for her kindness and help... More

This place is excellent to rest when you visit Manhattan. It's near the underground (maybe 4 or 5 different lines). You can go walking to the Flatiron, 5th Avenue...... The personal is nice; they help you about all you need.

I only stayed at Leo House for 1 night for a brief visit to NYC. It was one of the cheapest options in Manhattan in a location near the subway E line (for convenient access to JFK airport), and I was not disappointed. Sure, the building is old (it was formerly a convent) and some of the decor could do... More

After reading hundred of comments we were scared about the hotel and it's personnel. I have to say if you speak English the attendance and welcome is great. The hotel is cheap compared with others in the district (all Manhattan is very expensive). Very old building and lack of maintenance but it doesn't matter. Hotel is for sleeping and matress... More

I stayed one night at this pleasant guesthouse. The room, on the top floor, was clean and more than adequate for the very few hours we stayed there. The bathroom was clean and fresh. I thought the towels folded into a butterfly and flower on my bed was a clever way to present the linens, and, I guess in response... More

It had been 3 years since our last stay at Leo House and all is still well and some improvements. There is now free Wi-Fi through out as well as free full breakfast buffet. While it is somewhat rustic, it is clean, economical, and quite adequate for our needs. All we need is a place to sleep while being gone... More

The hotel has a somewhat religious atmosphere and advertises that Mother Theresa once stayed there. I think we may have stayed in the cell she occupied. The room was reminiscent of one in Europe. Clean, but very small. The building is old and in need of replenishing. The shower head in our bathroom seemed to be hanging at an odd... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Chelsea
Home to hundreds of art galleries, beautiful brownstones, and one of New York’s newest and most popular attractions, Chelsea is one of the city’s jewels when it comes to neighbourhood life. The contemporary art scene is an integral part of the neighbourhood’s identity, with gallery openings almost every night of the week and countless exhibits to explore. The opening of the High Line, an abandoned elevated train track transformed into a world-class pedestrian park, gave this neighbourhood new life as a tourist destination. The High Line provides visitors with a tranquil, elevated space with incomparable views, providing an unparalleled way to experience the city.
