Love the moxy!! The staff is fabulous - they make Moxy the moxy! The location is great, safe and plenty in walking distance. The lobby area with bar , games and basketball court is very unique. The rooms are small but it is NYC! All nyc rooms are small. Some of the other negative reviews make no sense. Moxy is a unique hotel brand , if you want four seasons vibes and service then pay to stay there. Moxy is definitely different but it’s crisp , clean & have amazing people working who are truly hospitality gems- that’s all that matters to me and my experience! Don’t sleep on Moxy Downtown.
Stayed for the night with my service bulldog for a mini staycation and couldn’t have been more pleased … the room is small but SO SO well designed… comfortable bed, cool hanging chair, comfy bed and SUPER soundproof. The lobby is H U G E and fun with tons of space to tuck yourself in and read or work … nice vibe and really lovely staff … will definitely be coming back for a stay *if from out of town the location is perfect … walking distance to all downtown attractions and tucked on a low traffic block a stones throw from all major subway lines
Avoid this hotel if you are not a backpacker/tourist. Hotel is a disaster for the business traveler. No desk in the room. Ridiculous lobby area -starts playing loud lounge music from 6.30 AM onwards.
This is a youth hostel desguised as a hotel with Marriott prices. It is unbievable how can Marriott ofer such low quality: staff totally unprepared and amateur, from frontdesk to management. Hotel full of kids drinking (and they help and support the idea of a permanent party). We ended In the street one night because the fire alarm went on: someone must have been smoking In the room; reading more reviews we’ve discovered is a common thing to happen. Another day, only one of the three elevators was working In a 29 floor building. Problems with our reservation happened 3 days In a row with the same argument for it: there was a mishunderstanding… Moxy NYC downtown is clearly a tourist trap. Marriott should be ashamed of this low quality and service under their brand. Avoid.
Where to start….so many issues….. Rooms are really small…. Very small… Ac noisy …..come on we are in 2020 and you have noisy AC in rooms No water pressure or hot water No front desk to check in or to talk to someone Not worth the price we pay No parking
Special thanks Alysse, Steven & Mgr Brittany - reservations screwed up our rate but the hotel honored it. Everyone we encountered was welcoming and gracious. Standard NYC room - decor is quite different but enjoyed it. Kids enjoyed the basketball court and games in restaurant. Close proximity to great places to eat and easy access to train. Would stay again.
Overall, just can’t recommend this hotel, especially at the prices they charge. Hotel basically told me they don’t participate in mobile check in. Guess what, Marriott mandated all hotels be ready to accept mobile check in by June 2021. They’re 18+ months behind that, and refused to honor it. They also didn’t offer the relevant Platinum / Titanium benefit choices. After pressing it, they did offer me the benefit guarantee and said they would align on offering that in the future, so I guess that will remain to be seen. Just not impressed at all. And ESPECIALLY at the prices they want. Stay at the Marriott Downtown if you want a good Marriott brand hotel in the area.
I have stayed in many hotels in New York over the years and I’m aware that some rooms can be small. This has to be the hotel with the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in. It is so tiny you cannot unpack. To work you have to sit on the end of the bed. The couple of staff I spoke to have been rude and I think the element for me that takes the biscuit for $450 hotel room a night to have No Coffee in the room and have to go to the bar to pay for a coffee is ridiculous. This is the first and last time I will ever stay here.
As a mom traveling solo for work this was the perfect mix of a fun and upbeat environment but also felt restful. The rooms were adorable, a great size, and the bar/food was good too. Very friendly staff and a great lobby for getting work done!
King bed is the size of a queen. They will insist it is a king though. Even if you requested a roll away and a lower floor in advance, they may provide you with neither. Now three of us will be enjoying a queen bed. One star.
