Public has managed to create a warm & welcoming, minimal yet cozy, sexy space with some of NY's best views! From effortlessly booking a somewhat complicated reservation to the overall friendly service, the restaurants, bars, cleanliness and location ~ the entire experience was a pleasure. We will definitely be back!
I had the pleasure of staying at PUBLIC visiting a friend on a layover in the city and will never stay anywhere else again.. we had such an amazing experience! The property is ahead of it's time, beautiful in design with ease of access, common areas for socializing that make you feel at home, and a top notch service staff that are always available and ready to help you with anything you need. The room made efficient use of the size and never felt crowded, taking advantage of every inch of space. The bed was so comfortable that I asked for the bedding information so I can buy it for my own home and the floor to ceiling views were incredible. We had the opportunity to enjoy drinks on the rooftop with stunning 360 degree views. Anything you need is only a click away with the concierge readily available by text or email to save you a trip to the lobby. I am a travel agent and get the opportunity to visit many wonderful, luxury hotels and PUBLIC truly is at the top of it's mark. Thank you for a wonderful stay!…
What can I say… extremely rude staff at the check in. We were paying $600/night - the view against a wall and not even a bottle water in the room. When we asked for a different room (as the wall view was very depressing) they said we would have to pay $$$$ on top of the high room charge or if we are not happy we should just look for another hotel. Basically, no one cares about you in this hotel, I‘m still blown away by the rudeness of the ‚manager‘ You will have to eat your breakfast with a plastic knife and fork. I can’t believe how much plastic they are using during the breakfast. For the rooms, the blankets are so thin, I was freezing all night. If you are looking for a nice hotel - don’t go here, it feels like a hostel. Honestly, I will never stay here again.
Such a stunning space for the minimalist theme of the hotel. The hotel room had all the modern luxe amenities with elements of wood, water and glass to add to the beautiful decor. room is comfortably compact and front desk was very helpful. Only two comments I have is that the Public space has unnoticeable hotel staff dressed in very casual wear. (Which is NOT an issue but it becomes hard to identify if someone works at the hotel if nametag is not visible). There was no doorman at the ground level which made checking in a little inconvenient. nevertheless, everything else was very pleasant, clean and inviting. Public Rooftop is stunning!
Very rare these days to get five star excellent service which ranged from text exchanges seeing how we were and handling several requests to arranging for affordable (for NYC parking) to Dean the manager arranging for a table at rooftop lounge for a large group on a couple hours notice. The rooms are typical NYC small with bed on lofted floor base versus box spring but slept well on it. Overall great experience.
