Lovely quaint hotel, great restaurant, pleasant service, good value.Loved using the bikes. I was puzzled by the cigaret smell in the hallway coming out of the elevator, I thought New York does not allow smoking rooms, but otherwise no issues.

The Jane has a wonderful classy feel to it, that you see the tiny rooms as an eccentricity. The free bicycles, excellent service, extraordinary restaurant and beautifully redone ball room - bar lounge make the visit worthwhile. We stayed a week, and managed to get into a rhythm of when to use the black checkered tile bathrooms, when to wash...

The room is 50sq ft. It includes a single mattress on a wooden bunk with two drawers underneath and a space to put your luggage (also underneath). There are two shelves that are not even a foot wide. There is no closet and no hangers, only small hooks. There is no sink in the room, unlike most other hotels that...

i needed a budget option for the last few days of my trip and could not be more impressed with The Jane. Location is perfect for hanging out in the meatpacking and west village areas, subway 10mins walk so easy to get around. Staff were welcoming and helpful, the shared facilities were kept spotless and no issues with waiting for...

We were only staying in New York for one night before we flew home so we were looking for somewhere cost effective but in our favourite location in New York. I came across the Jane on Tripadvisor and found the idea of a shared bathroom and a bunkbed kind of novel so we went for it. When we checked in...

The Jane Hotel is the quintessential NYC find. If you want to feel as if you LIVE in NYC, while you visit NYC, stay here. I lived in NYC for nine years and recently needed a place to stay when I visited. I stayed at The Jane, because I always wanted to live in the Village, and I was so...

Stayed in The Jane with my husband to celebrate my 40th birthday and it was perfect. It has a vintage feel to it and we stayed in the captains cabin , which had its own bathroom with a deep tub in it.there was also a balcony area . The hotel is in a fabulous location as it is near a...

The Jane is a spectacular hotel. It looks amazing, from the entrance hall with the stuffed peacocks on the wall and the cubby hole style reception desk, to the upholstered bedroom walls and immaculate black and white bathrooms. They have taken great care to create a period feel and all the fixtures and fittings fit beautifully. It really is quite...

The Jane is an adorable hotel near the High Line & Chelsea Market. The air conditioned rooms are very small (50 sq ft) and the bathrooms are shared. If you don't plan on hanging out in your hotel room this is a great choice. The shared bathrooms enforce a greater sense of community. It is hard to stay aloof when...

Maybe I expect too much. The Jane does do some things VERY well. For example, the washrooms: clean clean clean. I am hyper-picky about cleanliness and, initially, the idea of shared facilities gave me pause. After three stays I am totally convinced: excellent. And their staff, too: kind and attentive. Fantastic location. The problems? I've mentioned them in my other...

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
