For a boutique hotel with a good reputation, it's sad to come back to it with eighteen year olds streaming out of its bar for a "VIP" party. Traveled over 40 countries and never been told I could not have a drink at the hotel bar, if staying there, until now. Tragically hip.

For what you pay it is good value. The room is small but it is a bed for the night. Toilets and showers are clean, there is free wifi. Phone reception for me was poor though. Cafe seems popular, but the bar was very dark and not very inviting. The staff all wear uniforms which look like they work on...

This is the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Smaller than a cruise ship cabin. Bunk beds, comfortable enough. There's really nothing else in the rooms - some hooks for clothes and TVs for each bed. I think it would be fine for one person who is up for it. For two it was much harder because there's...

Stayed several nights at the Jane. The room is small but perfectly adequate and the shared bathrooms were always clean. An easy walk to the Village, High Line and Subway stops to head uptown. Nice to stay in more of a neighborhood than midtown.

My mom & I stayed in a bunk bed room. It was definitely small but cozy and nice. The room & bathrooms were very clean. The shared bathrooms were never a problem. Try to bring bags to hang up. There is not any floor space for suitcases. Check out the bar as well. Very trendy & well decorated.

I stayed at the Jane for one night in one of the larger rooms. Great room, great view, except for the fact, I left with BED BUG BITES all over my back and stomach. I called the hotel and spoke to the GM. He told me they had had this problem 4 months ago but it had been resolved, NOT!...

I'll warn you: the moment you enter the room (actually, the "cabin") it will look incredibly small to you. It is. But I have been to other hotels in that part of Manhattan, and they're not bigger - if you want to pay that price, I mean. At least, this hotel looks really nice: from the decor to the staff...

I love the Jane - but I'm a quirky guy who loves history and weird stuff. The Jane is quirky and weird; if you're expecting a standard hotel experience, this isn't the place for you. Tiny rooms (we're talking like 6' by 10', people), shared bathrooms, a young, casual staff. It's kept immaculately clean, and the lighting/tv system is super-cool....

We were running an event in NY. We've used the Jane a number of times for staff hotels and indeed guest hotels. Although they don't do group bookings, you can book individually for people and put it under the same bank card. Every time we've tried to do this it's been a disaster: They've lost the guests' information a number...

I really enjoyed my brief stay at the historically correct Jane Hotel in the West Village. Wish I had had more time to hang out in the bar and comfortable, quirky lobby, but would definitely return. Good value for money, if you don't mind tiny rooms and a shared bath. My only (minor) complaint was water all over the floor...

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
