Fantastic area of town near meatpacking, great restaurants and shops. Not too touristy and a beautiful bar. The bar is beautiful with antiques and character. Gets lively after 9. We stayed in a room facing the west side highway with a queen bed. Not cheap but a good local not too touristy experience.

My friend and I traveled to NYC and last minute added a night to our weekend stay. We ended up booking the Jane mostly because the price was good and it was available. We stayed in a bunk room which was somehow smaller than it looked in the photos, but we were expecting small, so no big deal (the rooms...

We really liked the hotel. The staff were all fab, really polite and helpful. It has been so lovingly put back together again. The detailing stands out a mile. The room was really cute. The bellboy uniforms are amazing. The bar looks stunning, and on and on. It has a lovely feel about it, and having a Cafe Gitane there...

The TINY rooms are fine for a day or two but I found it, particularly the bed, too small for a longer stay. The shared bathrooms are okay too but the showers are always wet and feel a little…shared. The location is great being between uptown and downtown with the subway about 10minutes away. The staff seemed indifferent until I...

I couldn't say it all any better than Eric M. did. Weekend trip for a friend & I and we had a great time staying at this hotel! Price was amazing as well! The heat/air conditioning was a little tricky but we figured it out and stayed comfortable.

This past Thanksgiving I had a problem adjusting the heat (it was too hot). I was okay turning the air conditioner on for a while to adjust the temperature. At 9pm the room's smoke detector sounded approximately 8 times. The battery was replaced. At 4:15am the detector again sounded numerous times, waking me up from my sleep. The staff removed...

Thanks for writing. As your stay was on Thanksgiving and you are writing less than two weeks after the holiday, your claim of a response from management "several weeks" after your stay would appear to be incorrect. A response was sent on Monday. If the auto-response out of office email you received was unclear I apologize as I did in...

For a weekend in December where its impossible to find a room for two (separate beds) for under $270, The Jane was a great find ($145 incl. tax). I stayed one night there (5th Floor bunk cabin) during a weekend visit with a friend and it is literally a step back into the past with the quality of any other...

I stayed here for a week, in one of the Captain's rooms, and loved it. There are many wonderful things about this hotel: The staff, the location, the decor and, of course, the bikes! I felt very welcome here. The staff really go out of their way to assist you with anything - they seem to employ genuinely nice people....

Read all the reviews and thought it sounded cool. The room was actually bigger than I expected--it is NYC after all. But the goods news stopped there. Heat was not controllable --its either on or off and the 'engineer' turned it off but we had to turn on the air conditioner to be able to sleep. And the AC was...

Thanks for writing. I am sorry to hear that you ran into some issues during your stay. Should you come back to see us again I would suggest requesting a room which faces the exterior of the building. These often have better airflow and are generally cooler for guests who prefer lower temperatures. We generally get a flood of positive...

This hotel is a great deal. The property is very unique. The rooms are very small, but designed like an old ships cabin. The restrooms are down the hall. The restaurant is very good. The lounge is classic. The staff is wonderful.

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
