#64 of 515 hotels in New York City
Travellers' Choice
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York’s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure—very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There’s a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, innovative cuisine and natural wine at Narcissa, the bustling, all-day street-side Café Standard with an indoor mushroom farm and retail bread program, and NO BAR, a highly inclusive new wave gay bar with late night parties and club-like programming.

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Enchanting garden for meals with yurt tents. Young, funky crowd. Go to the roof and surprise!! Since our daughter moved in around the corner, this will be our go to hotel on visits. We have already booked stays in June and July.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Standard. Staff is great and food at the cafe was quite good. My only criticism is that the room seemed tired because the carpet was stained, the lampshades were falling apart and the bed frame was really dinged up. The views are amazing and the location is great.

Right out of the gate the front desk reception was accommodating, welcoming and reassuring our stay was going to be enjoyable. The room was immaculate.Every aspect was new and every inch functional. Attention to detail was very evident. Overall the desk staff, particularly Rodney ,was exceptional. The hotel was central to our needs.Safe area also. Heated vestibule area was appreciated as well as roof top 360 platform with comfortable seating and spectacular views. Dining within was unique ,fun and enjoyable. Would definitely book here again. No remorse at all.

Room was fine. Would have rather had a glass shower than the shower/tub, but not a big deal. Views were excellent. Food was very good. Location excellent. But we had no housekeeping service, and when we asked about it, were told "you had to request it by 11 am", which, of course, no one ever informed us. And when we complained they simply offered clean towels. Won't return.

Danny and Rodney are absolutely the best and truly made our stay. Danny was our host and he went beyond my expectations. We booked a corner king and the city view was breathtaking! Talk about that sunrise, priceless!!!!! The bed was super comfy, I loved the shower tub duo. For a quick weekend trip or longer stay don’t hesitate to book here because you are in the middle of everything !!! Just a walk from soho, a quick Uber ride uptown. I’ve stayed in many hotels in NY and I must say the way we were taken care of here, you just can’t put a price on it. Can’t wait to come again!
