We found this Hotel through Hotel Tonight app. We wound up in a $400 room for $175 and was very pleased. Room was a bit small but that is common in NYC. Tried to get into the Boom Boom Room upstairs but without being on a list, they wouldn't even consider it :( Other than that, great location, great views,...

So first off, make sure you tell your Uber driver to take you to the Standard in East Village. As there is another Standard Hotel in the meat packing district. Secondly, ask for a room as high as possible. I believe anything above the 9th floor will be a sweet view, unobstructed by other nearby buildings. I looked over at...

We stayed 2 nights in the hotel : the view from our 19th floor room (full of light with a beautiful view) was definitely worth it. Hotel personnel was very kind and professional. Perfect location next to Astor Place

We had a great experience at the Standard from the moment we walked in the door. Our room was upgraded to a corner king room at no additional charge. We had a beautiful view of the city from two walls of windows. I requested a hypoallergenic room. They provided hypoallergenic pillows and duvet immediately upon check in. The Winter Garden...

Just arrived for a three day business trip and The Standard has already exceeded expectations. Room is well done, location is prime, and the staff (especially Barrington) are very accommodating. Looking forward to peeping the winter garden!

We spent 7 night at the Standard East Village on our most recent trip to New York. We wanted to stay further away from Midtown and decided to stay here after reading several positive reviews. We were really impressed! Our room was small but it offered a great view of the city from the floor to ceiling glass. We had...

The Standard is beautifully situated for a stay in Manhattan, with subway service close by and the pleasures of Washington Square Park and Tompkins Square Park just a few blocks away through lovely little streets full of splendid little restaurants and shops. There is a much more diverse, artsy and happening feeling here than in the stuffy upper east and...

This hotel deserves more than five stars. All the staff are kind friendly knowledgeable smart and funny. The rooms are stunning with amazing views. I was there in August 2016 and I'm going back October 2017. I just booked my room. So excited! Thank you Will Jordan Shanna Paige and everyone else at The Standard. Rebecca Loudon

We spent 4 nights at the Standard East Village - a well situated hotel in the East Village. The room was clean and we had a great view over the city from the floor to ceiling glass. The decor is stark and it is not conducive to any in-room work (desk is VERY small). The small bar/cafe in the lobby...

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York's most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure-very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There's a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, Michelin-starred chef John Fraser's widely acclaimed Narcissa, and the bustling, street-side Café Standard, which hums from morning until late night. ... more   less
