First of all I have stayed at many different hotels all over NYC. The rooms are the typical size of many - small. But a difference here is the bathrooms are not tiny, but good size. And this hotel had the MOST comfortable bed I have ever slept in. All the staff was VERY welcoming (free glass of champagne while...

As others have pointed out, the rooms are on the small side. I intentionally booked the "spectacular" class of room hoping for a slightly bigger room, but still quite small (have stayed in at least 10 different hotels in New York - yes rooms are generally small but would say this hotel's rooms are smaller than average). Common areas and...

Stayed overnight on business. Got in very late. No one to greeted me. At 1am the staff seemed too busy to be bothered. Only one person at the front desk for checking in and got caught behind 3 people who were making some complicated transaction. Didn't have the king bed I had reserved and left me with two twins. They...

Booked the hotel via a discount site so value for money was really good. Despite that we were upgraded to a nicer room at check-in by the hotel staff. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was a decent size for NY (spectacular room type) with modern, stylish furnishings. Definitely bigger than i expected, but like i already said we got...

I've just returned from a lovely 4 days in New York and my stay at the W accounts for a good part of that. Even though 'you're only sleeping in the room, so why bother with anything fancy' has a point, I do still want to have that haven you can go to after a day of busy, hot (yes,...

I have been working in New York from Texas Sunday through Friday for 4 months. It has been difficult, it has been cold and truly my only solace has been knowing that I'll be in a great room and receive excellent service whenever I get a few moments off from Work. Carmen Hui at the W New York (Lexington) has...

Just stayed at the W for St. Patrick's Day weekend. Staff was the most courteous and helpful I've interacted with in quite a while and I travel a lot for work. We were there to celebrate my sister's birthday, and the check-in staff upgraded us to a larger room. Yes, the rooms are small, but most are in NY. They...

I travel to Midtown NYC often for work, and stay here every week. Carmen at the front desk is awesome - very sweet, remembered my name after staying there just two weeks. She goes out of her way to make my experience wonderful. Dereon the valet is also fantastic, he's got a great attitude and so pleasant to talk to!...

New York is easily one of my favorite cities to visit, and with there being so many Starwood properties it can often be a difficult decision. The last few stays I've been staying across the Hudson at the W in Hoboken, but decided to try something different this time around that was close to all the action. This hotel is...

While the location is very good and the place tried to be 'hip', the rooms are really below what one would expect for a W hotel. The room is very small, the bed is small, the shower is below average, the elevator got stuck and the acoustics are poor. The hotel staff attempt to make it up by offering Champagne...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
