Having looked forward to staying at this hotel, I have to say one word would sum up the experience: disappointing. The entire hotel feels tired and is in desperate need of refurbishment. We stayed in a basic room and being a frequent visitor to New York, I didn't expect a massive room. However, this room was minuscule (approx 9 sq...

The W is a trendy, modern hotel, with comfortable beds and very clean rooms. It's location is great and so is its service. We loved it and thought the price we got was excellent! Our room was on the 8th floor, sound proofed and cute.

Before purchasing rooms on priceline, I called the hotel to ensure I could get my needs met. I needed a high floor, quiet room with a good view and 2 beds. While priceline doesn't guarantee double beds in the room, the W did when I called. So, I made the purchase. It was obvious when I arrived that there would...

I just returned from a 4 night stay on the 3rd floor, "wonderful room". I was in town for the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. The location is somewhat close to Times Square and our favorite inexpensive place to eat was 2 blocks down at the Oxford Cafe at 591 Lexington (corner of 51st & 52nd Street). The W Staff were...

I stayed five days in the W on Lex and was pleasantly surprised. In spite of the super busy lobby, crowded with 'clubbers' and the kind, staff attention and kindness really surprised me. My room was super small and extremely noisy so I imeediately complained with the manager. Less than 5 minutes later, the porter came to help with my...

We stayed here for 4 nights and would recommend this hotel as a good central base in New York, but slightly away for the hustle and bustle of Times Square etc. Our room was actually slightly larger than we expected and nicely furnished. Yes, the bathrooms are tiny, but this is New York, so what do you expect unless you...

When we arrived at the hotel we were placed into the Wonderful Room. It's NYC so I don't expect a huge room and the size was fine for 2 people. The bathroom was however barely accessible by one at a time. However after a call to the concierge (and out Platinum status), 2 days later a Suite was available and...

It has been said by many others, this hotel is just such a let down. Small, dirty, dated rooms. Expensive extras (internet, minibar, room service). Admittedly I saw a bit of it in New York so I'm not sure the disinterested, haughty and sometimes downright rude staff is unique to this hotel. Everyone is chewing gum while they talk to...

The W is always somewhere that has had an edgy kind of feel with a slightly bohemian flavor. This W still has a lot of those elements; "lounge" type music in the lobby, dark colors through the corridors, funky artwork ... but it now has a slightly faded feel. Check-in was rather slow and a little disorganized. The room was...

Recently visited my daughter in NYC, and everytime I go, I try to stay at a different hotel. Went on Priceline and found that my bid went to W New York on Lexington Ave. It's located just a few blocks from Grand Central Station, so it's pretty much convenient to anywhere you need to go. The lobby is very pleasant...and...

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
