I'm not even sure where to begin with how amazing my experience was with The Mark Hotel. First and foremost I have to thank Molly Deutscher. I wanted to have a little staycation with my girlfriend for her birthday and Molly went above and beyond to provide us with everything and anything we could think of. There was a cake and bottle of wine waiting for us in our room, the doormen and concierge knew who we were the second we arrived and could not be more accommodating, there was a reservation for us for breakfast and literally everything was so smooth and easy. the room itself was a thing of beauty. The bathroom was huge, the bed was so comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. Again, if you can get a hold of Molly to help book your stay here you won't be let down. It was the greatest hotel I've ever stayed at in NYC and their attention to detail is unrivaled. I would give this place 11 out of 5 stars if I could!!!!

I just spent ten nights at The Mark after an eight month absence due to Covid. It was magical, same kind faces to open the car door, more kind faces to receive me at Reception. My room was spotless as ever and I never felt doubtful about cleaning procedures or steps taken to keep me safe, healthy and happy. The Mark has made the mandated outdoor dining as pleasant as possible with same tasty food and attentive service. I had my family over for two meals in my room, via Room Service, and that was also wonderful. I am booked already to return early December. It was a lovely experience, feeling alive again in such lovely surroundings as The Mark provides.

Our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 little children) spent the week of New Year’s Eve at The Mark. The boutique hotel was constructed with solid quality materials. The interior design was nice overall (not looking like it’s 1 of many other cookie cutter versions). Bottled water was complementary. The Nespresso machine wasn’t placed in the room at time we checked in, but when requested, housekeeping promptly brought it up. Housekeeping never made us wait for too long for any room service orders. I was always referred to by my name by all staff members each time i placed a call. All staff members were very courteous and non-pretentious, but the team that really brought in the medal was the bellmen. They talked to our children as though they had been friends for a long time. Obviously, the way to the heart of many parents is through the children. I had a wonderful chat with a bellman from Tibet, where he had worked as a guide, reaching the top of Mt Everest 5 times. I just now finished watching his talk on Ted Talk podcast. Meeting hospitality staff with unique background certainly adds another layer of fun to any trip. We are used to the bells and whistles like s’mores and kids clubs at other hotels, and did feel we wished there was something for us to do in the hotel after after dinner. Nevertheless, we never felt out of place with our children at The Mark. Overall, two thumbs up for the entire stay

I arrived at the Mark for my first hotel stay since the beginning of COVID and was just excited to be out of my apartment. I had booked a superior courtyard queen room for over $800 through Amex FHR. On the hotel website, there were several King courtyard rooms and suites available, so was a bit surprised at check-in that we didn't receive a complimentary upgrade through FHR (or any mention of it). I understand with COVID protocols, logistics around upgrades can be complicated, but the fact there was no mention was odd. The guest rooms themselves are quite small for the price paid, but the rooms were clean and comfortable with modern amenities. Room service breakfast was OK, and for well over $100 for two people, seemed mediocre (the pastry basket didn't taste fresh). We did get a $60 breakfast credit through FHR, but that doesn't even cover the continental breakfast package. Also on the dining front, we tried to get a table outside for lunch (we aren't comfortable inside due to COVID) and there were no tables. We ordered room service instead and the food was good. I think it's worth mentioning though that in situations like that, it would be nice if the large room service fees were waived during this time. All in all it was a pleasant stay, but it didn't feel as 5 star as other nearby hotels in the same price point.

The Mark Hotel is a true gem in NYC.
My husband and I ( New Yorkers) could not have had a better time at The Mark.
From the moment we arrived each member of The Mark team greeted us with a warm welcome.
The Mark team is outstanding with great attention to detail making certain the guest experience is superb.
The rooms are beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable and quiet.
Loved the gym which for a property with 153 rooms is larger and better equipped then many larger hotels I've stayed at. The Peloton bike was a great surprise.
The location is convenient to a great number of museums in walking distance or a short subway or taxi ride away as well as to the theater district.
If you are looking for a special shopping experience Madison Avenue is where you will find it.
Special thank yous to Concierges Gabriela Popeti and Isabelle Hogan as well as Ryan in The Mark Bar and Molly Deuthcher for her kindness.
Our 3 night stay at the Mark was exceptional and we are already planning our next stay.

Our family stayed in two rooms, including one premium suite, at the Mark in July. There were signs that the hotel was off its game as it struggles to rebound from the dip caused by the COVID crisis. Occupancy was far from full. The rooms were 78 degrees when we arrived in the heat of the summer and it was a struggle to get them to a comfortable temperature during our stay, the bagels served with the expensive room service were stale and the rest of the food was subpar, and housekeeping didn't replenish the coffee cups we had used with the Keurig machine in the room.

Although this was all far less than we would expect from a five star hotel, we tried to overlook these inconveniences with a spirit of understanding. Until it was time to pay our bill...

The hotel had advertised the fourth night free with a four night stay. The bill presented indicated no discount at all. I told the clerk at checkout that the bill was wrong. I asked that the changes be refunded on my card and I asked for an email with the correct charges. I was assured that the reservations manager would take care of that, and we left.

We later received an email from the reservations manager stating that we had booked a different promotion (20% off instead of the fourth night free - which was a worse deal for us), and that the bill already reflected a discount, although none was shown on the bill. The charges matched the full price we had seen advertised at the time we booked our stay. In short, the hotel gave us no discount, but claimed that they had, by appearing to play a game of "gotcha" instead of providing us with the best available discount. I complained and have expressed my dissatisfaction to the reservations manager, but have had no response.

Character is revealed when times are tough. I am left with the impression that the Mark is trying to recoup lost revenue at the expense of guests like me. I'd expect better from any hotel, let alone one that charges premium prices and claims to provide a first class experience. The Mark failed us on all fronts, and worse than that, disrespectfully. We'll never stay there again.

This was a combined holiday and work trip. The hotel is well located one block from Central Park on 77th, and 2 blocks from the subway station on the 6 line. Service was good and the hotel was lovely but for how expensive this hotel is, I did not feel it was special enough, I’ve been lucky to stay at some amazing hotels around the world where you leave feeling really spoilt in a great environment, The Mark did not leave that mark on me particularly for somewhere that describes itself as New York’s most boldly lavish hotel. The restaurant, the bar, the cocktails, housekeeping all good. Room 509 great, loved the big shower and proper lighting for shaving in the bathroom ( can’t believe how many luxury hotels get this wrong).

I would stay here again but would want to try other options in NY at this price.

I'm a lifelong New Yorker who now lives in Connecticut. Whenever I go to NYC for overnight stays, I always choose The Mark. For those who understand Manhattan and, specifically, the Upper East Side, The Mark provides an experience that closely mirrors that of owning your own, beautiful Carnegie Hill apartment, complete with full service staff and a glorious restaurant. The rooms are striking, comfortable and thoughtfully designed to provide an environment that lends itself to privacy and self-sufficiency. Also, they have, hands down, the nicest bathrooms in NY - best shower of my life. In terms of the neighborhood, you're half a block from Central Park, around the corner from top tier retail on Madison and, if you'd like a taste of a refined, Upper East Side cocktail establishment that is both elegant and fun, the bar is an excellent contrast to its stuffy (and creaky) competitor, Bemelman's, across the street. Another HUGE plus for The Mark is that they are extraordinarily dog friendly. Most hotels that claim this have limitations on dog sizes exceeding 35 pounds (come on), but The Mark welcomes, literally, all dogs. We have an 80 pound Lab and they could not have been more accommodating. I met a fellow guest with three large dogs on hand. Amazing. Lastly, the staff, from the management down to the front of house and back of house personnel are all friendly, attentive and go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome, remembered (I've been several times and they make it clear they know that) and special. If you want to experience a genuine, uptown Manhattan lifestyle (versus the tourist mirages in midtown and south), you cannot do better than The Mark. I look forward to my next visit, as should you.

I'm from Switzerland but lived in Manhattan for 25 years on the upper east side. Having moved away last year, I wanted to celebrate my daughter's 14th birthday in the city and explored many hotel options before settling on the Mark for a number of reasons - but primarily cleanliness: so many of the nicer hotels seem to have fallen apart. The Mark is impeccable and the rooms are large. But let me go back: the rooms are exquisitely clean. I know you might expect this for the rates we pay but... it is not always so. You'd be surprised! The bathrooms at the Mark are gorgeous and the beds very comfortable. Room service is 100% reliable, prompt and adaptable to picky food requests (thank you!)

But honestly what made. the stay 6 stars (yes, 6!) was Isabelle Hogan in the Concierge. Seek her out. She did everything to make our stay perfect. She gave us a late check out, which meant we were able to thoroughly enjoy our next lazy day. She checked in with me to offer all sorts of extra services (facials, massage...) Had I asked for mango out of season, Isabelle would certainly have found one.

Details such as this, the willingness to say: ' let me offer you a late check out' makes you want to return again and again. We didn't have to beg, she OFFERED. That's worth the entire trip right there. She is a star. Thank you the Mark and thank you Isabelle!

My wife and I, along with our 2 dogs, were recently forced to leave our home because of widespread power outages in CT, lasting for days. We had stayed at The Mark several times before and, knowing they were pet friendly, called to secure a reservation. I initially spoke with Jennifer, the Director of Revenue, who was working exceedingly hard to accommodate the deluge of reservation requests. She expertly handled all aspects and we were soon checking in. Keep in mind, during this pandemic, most of the top-tier hotels in Manhattan are not even open! (St. Regis, Four Seasons among them). The front door staff were quick to greet us, assisting with not only the luggage but the dogs, as well. They could not have been more pleasant. Once we checked in, we did, however, experience some temperature-related issues with our room and before I could even contact Jennifer about this, she was calling me to see how our room was! Immediately upon hearing our concerns that our AC was not working properly, she quickly connected us with Olivia, a Sales Coordinator, who was simply amazing. She literally worked until 10pm finding us the perfect room, which was not easy considering how busy the hotel was, with so many others like us, affected by this storm that ravaged CT. She personally showed us several rooms and suites, giving her candid assessment on each one. She was simply amazing and in the hospitality business, you don't always get such a gem. Michael, the bellman, transferred our luggage to the new room and could not have been nicer. Once we got settled in, we realized that not only did they find us the perfect room, but Olivia and Jennifer arranged for some wonderful desserts to be waiting for us, along with a nice note from the GM, Manuel Martinez. That was a very sincere and classy gesture. Between the location, the Jean Georges restaurant (amazing as always) and most of all, the terrific people mentioned above, we could not be more grateful. The entire experience was exceptional.THANK YOU🙏

No idea as how to help. Send them over to Madison Avenue for deluxe shopping or window shopping. Lots to see. Safe area. The Zadig et Voltaire shop around the corner is really great and has cutting-edge styles, suitable for teens. It is pricey, but tell them maybe they can pay off one purchase over time:) Just teasing, but there is SO MUCH to do in NYC! You are a stone's throw from the Bemelmann's Bar at the Carlyle. I know they are a little old for Madeline, but it is iconic NYC and maybe the bartender will turn a blind eye or give them Shirley Temples. Look for the Madeline paintings all over everything - Bemelmanns paid for his stay that way, back in the day!
