I have stayed there at least 10 times in the past and have always had courteous and friendly service. However, the night of November 20 the place was manned by a cretin who left me pounding on the door and ringing the bell for 20 minutes outside, even though I had a reservation. The Chinese restaurant next door rang the...

We stayed 8 nights in the Carlton Arms. And yes, it is true: it might not be a hotel for everyone. We really liked it. Not posh. Simple and not luxury. A place to sleep in The City that never Sleeps. What else do you need? The benefits are: - Not very expensive for Manhattan - Close to subwaystations -...

I booked this room for 4 nights after booking we realized we only really needed it for 3 days I sent an email to them about two months before we were scheduled to stay telling them the situation, the reply I got was a standard look at our policy. So I did it said we could cancel within 24 hours...

For my 40th Birthday my husband organised a surprise trip from Paris to NYC for what should have been a wonderful weekend. But it took a second to spoil it all when we entered the place. I am found of Arts and I understand that the concept of the hotel is unique. I found it quite unique in many ways....

We had a double bedroom with a private bathroom. Carlton Arms was a good experience, it was clean, it was cheap, and with a good location. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It is a special place, and not suited for everyone, but we had a great time and a good experience. The cats are also cute. Across the...

I highly recommend Carlton Arms to those who aren't too fussy about the aesthetic nature of your accommodation and want affordable accommodation in New York. Although the rooms are basic, my room (private) had a VERY comfortable bed, a basin and efficient air con. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. I was given the choice of two rooms and picked...

Funky, unique, cozy, good location, agreed with some previous comments that its not a real Holiday Inn, but for 60$ a night (October 2015) we didnt regret any second staying there. Hot showers (which is always my biggest concern) and cleanliness checked. We had a window on 3rd Avenue side so it can be bit noisy sometimes. Anyway, would recommend...

From my trip travelogue: Speaking of pricey items, lodging is another expensive item in NYC, and generally, you cannot expect to spend less that $150 per night for a single person. Even then, that usually doesn't mean a nice accommodation in a convenient area. But I happened upon the Carlton Arms, also known as the Artbreak Hotel, and very cheap...

I've stayed at the Carleton Arms for years on and off. It's always been my go-to, cheaper than normal place to stay in the City. The staff has always been friendly and accommodating, but improvements and basic maintenance are slipping big time now and deep cleaning is a thing of the past. It can also be a noisy place if...
