The Elizabethan was probably a reasonably grand motel in its day, but it has aged and is very dated. It was considerably cheaper than motels in Nags Head and was very convenient to the marina at Wanchese where we had booked a fishing trip. There was only one ice machine for multiple buildings--not very convenient. A minifridge and microwave were available. No breakfast, but a Dunkin Donuts just down the street opens early and had breakfast sandwiches. If you don't set the bar very high, the Elizabethan will do--but of course, we only had male family members on this trip.

We were there for a softball tournament. We brought our little dog . They put us in an outdated room all the way in the back away from the team. I requested to move and they refused. The room was not what I was expecting . The pool closed too. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone .

We booked a stay at the Elizabethan Inn and checked into the hotel. Unfortunately, upon receiving our key card to the room, we were disappointed to find that the room was filthy and smelly. However, we were going to attempt to make the best of it. But, after using the restroom, we were upset to find that the toilet did not flush, but just overflowed all over the bathroom. We attempted to use the hotel phone to contact the front desk only to find no working phone service. After calling the hotel from my cell phone (and waiting on an extended hold), we were first told that there is no working phone service in the part of the hotel we were assigned to. We notified the front desk that the toilet was not working and overflowing in the bathroom. The only resolution offered was that we should “try and find a plunger.” We were left in a room with no working phones, no working toilet and toilet water all over the bathroom. We were never given the option of changing rooms, or of having the toilet repaired. At that point, we could not stay in the room, with our two children, without a functioning toilet. We packed and notified the front desk that we were leaving due to having a room with no toilet. The front desk again refused to resolve the issue (by changing rooms or fixing the toilet) or to give us a refund. We had to drive two hours home in the middle of the night with two children. and forfeit our tickets for the activities that we had planned the next day.

Beware. Beware. Beware. I cannot say this enough. We stayed there on a group rate and didn't even make it through the night. Had a room curtain assembly fall on my wife causing injury to her. This unit which is in excess of around 35-40 lbs was attached to the ceiling using 6 in screws straight into the ceiling. No anchors, no studs. (See pictures) The night clerk was very dismissive and slightly combative on her choice of words when I stated "I have a issues with you guys" while referring to the room she replied with such gems as it's not like we did it on purpose, or I'm my 15 years of doing this we never had that happen well except at one of my other places, or well that's a surprise as we've been renting these rooms. Just disgusting. Did not offer a incident report. To their credit they did offer a different room however at that point we did not feel safe staying there any longer so we did check out and they provided a full refund. Just beware as you get what you pay for here

Our vacation plans to OBX were not what we expected. We had reservations for 3 nights on the beach at Nags Head, NC. When we arrived to the our room, we were sorely disappointed. Our accommodations did not meet our expectations, far from it to be exact. After some last minute inquiries, we found a room, not on the beach, but clean and very affordable. The room was 100% cleaner and better and about $70 less per night. The staff was very pleasant and very helpful. We could tell improvements were being made but the rooms were still better than our previous location. Elizabethan Inn was a life saver and we will definitely return.

Where to start... at $240 for the night, do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else. Upon arrival, I was put off by the woman at the desk who said she’d be with me in a minute, which gave me plent of time to read the rules on the wall as she did things on her computer and phone. There were dirty footprints on the bathroom floor, stained towels, no plastic bags in the trash cans, dead bugs (thankfully dead) lining the walls, toilet seat was up, no toilet paper on the roll, however there was one on the back of the toilet. The heat index over 100, yet the air conditioning unit wasn’t on so it was extremely stuffy and it took quite a while to cool down. The room, which was in the main building, is very run down. The metal strip on the floor between the carpet and bathroom tile was not attached and was a tripping hazard. I’ve attached pictures of the burn in the granite, holes in the shower, broken tiles, loose light fixtures, sloppy repairs. There’s obviously no pride in the care of this property. Just a hole to suck in unknowing tourists. The positives: there was a working refrigerator, microwave, and small coffee pot, and the pool on the level above us was not open due to COVID.

The room was undated which wouldn’t be a problem if the room wasn’t filthy. We found bed bugs on one of the beds along with several stains such as fresh blood. The towels had holes in them this is a very unpleasant place.

Words cannot describe how our visit went with this hotel. If you can find another location regardless of cost stay there instead. They did not clean rooms, towels and toilet paper were moldy. :< They were understaffed, unorganized unprofessional,
