We stayed in room 34 at the quieter end of the hotel; room 22 below it would probably be similar. This end enjoys serene views of the Island Park and water; the other end has harbor views but seemed a bit more cluttered. Our room was very spacious and genteel which made the visit delightful. The second floor includes a...

Nice, quiet alternative to the tourist side of OBX. Although slightly worn, it offers a slight bit of class for the mature traveler. Very clean, pleasant staff, and beautiful views. Also, a wonderful breakfast area with limited, but adequate selections.

A least yearly we visit the Outer Banks andwe always stay at Tranquil Inn in Manteo. It is clean, right downtown, but never noisy, away from the bustle of Nags Head, beaches...but close enough. Mornings spent looking at sunrises and sunsets over the harbor are so relaxing. Yes, it is older, but clean and comfortable. The staff and management are...

This place was OK if you can live with old and run down bathroom. Location is great and staff was cery friendly. They offered free wine with cheese at certain time during the day. Breakfast was included and it was allright, not a lot to choose from but it was good. Our room was nice but the bathroom was old...

My husband and I escaped the inauguration hub-bub and sought silence in Manteo. The Tranquil House was lovely. We were in room 32, which is large, bright, and pretty private (except during the wine hour in the evening, which takes place just near enough to the room for the voices of happy hour revelers to travel). Outside of the wine...

Thank you for the kind review! Room 32 is a guest favorite, we're glad that you got to enjoy it. Wine & Cheese hour is definitely a fun time and sometimes the volume gets a bit louder than usual. We like to see it as a sign that our guests are enjoying themselves, but it's also why we definitely have...

I stayed for three nights at the Tranquil House Jan. 13-16 2017. As part of a writers' retreat I was looking forward to hours of uninterrupted writing time and that's what we got. In January the place was still fairly busy with most of the rooms occupied, but the tourists are mostly gone. The House is large and a bit...

My wife and I visited Manteo for the expressed purpose to stay in the hotel that housed the restaurant 1789 plus it was, used to be, a nice small hotel. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for the winter and we were the only guests in the entire hotel. The room was nice but tired, a large water bug crawled across...

Spent 5 days here in October. Very tranquil. Clean, quiet rooms. Breakfast was adequate. Location on the water was very nice. Did not try the restaurant (1587) but it always seemed to be popular and busy. Good value! Staff was polite and helpful.

Very quaint Inn on a marina. Our room was very large with a king bed, clean and separate air conditioning was great as we were on the third floor. We had dinner in their restaurant 1587, which was very good and the staff is super friendly. Wine and cheese served on outside deck was a a nice treat with great...
