At first, there was a scary vibe as you walk down the dark hallways with seemingly washed up blood throughout the carpets. It reminded me of the Hotel season of American Horror Stories. When you get over all this, the hotel is actually quite special. Great location in gas lamp quarters! Grand entrance and rooms were modern and artistic. I... More

Great location in the Gaslamp district within walking distance to a number of restaurants and attractions. The hotel lobby and refreshed lower level are very nice with plenty of seating and breakout space. The also serve complementary coffee and tea each morning. They provide excellent service and the concierge is very helpful with suggestions and maps. The rooms are well... More

After careful consideration and exhaustive research, the U.S. Grant was chosen for our 5 night pre-17-night-cruise-to-South-America-from-San-Diego Halloween weekend stay. We absolutely loved San Diego and adore this property. The charm & hospitality of the hotel (especially that shown to us by Kimber at the front desk.and Umberto & Corey in the Grant Grill) is world class. The lobby exuded elegance... More

The hotel is grand in appearance. The room we were assigned was newly refinished. The first problem is they sent us the old key to the door which was very frustrating. Then, the bed was just too high for short little me (5'4") and no means to get up which made each evening difficult for me. There was no chair... More

I stay at the US Grant when I want to stay downtown and attend a show at the Civic center, which is only one block away. I've also been there more than a few times for various parties and events. Valet parking is very easy, accessible from both sides of the hotel and fast for both drop off and pickup.... More

Service is amazing and the personnel is very helping in any request you might have. The concierge service is exactly what you should except in a luxury hotel. We had an upgrade for our honeymoon and many more little attention

It is rare to find a hotel that offers excellent customer service with all employees throughout the hotel. All seem genuinely interested that you are a guest. This hotel meet that standard. It is a historic hotel, that has been carefully renovated. The rooms are very clean and updated.

Stayed three nights. Nothing special. They call it luxury, why? Are room had a weird smell and hair in the tub. Some of the staff have this air of "I'm better than you!" Even though I paid $1100 for three nights. The renovation is cheap, tacky chandeliers, bad carpet, real disappointment. It's the tantamount to Holiday inn. Except you get... More

Ohh my! It seems that we didn't click with you, dpark611. Your review is the tantamount to the gravest disappointment causing long faces around here. If you call a $13m renovation cheap, we clearly didn't host you in one of our new rooms, nor have you been able to see the details and re-designed areas that everyone raves about. We... More

This is my second stay at the hotel. Both for business. The hotel is located downtown and is a short trolly ride from the waterfront. The rooms are beautifully done. I would recommend a higher floor and a King size bed. The restaurant is quite elegant and has a lot of history. Originally owned by President Grant, it is a... More

We checked in on a Monday afternoon and were delighted with our modern beautiful room. It was quite a hike to the elevator but that was not an issue. Unfortunately that evening after attending a concert across the plaza from the hotel our room key would not unlock the door. We went downstairs and security came up with us. Their... More

Oh my, Deborah! So very sorry to hear that we had some start-off problems with our new locks. Our sincere apology for having caused such inconveniences, the wait time and back and forth. This shouldn't have happened after all. We are grateful however that you stayed positive and gave us an opportunity to gain your trust back. More
