Rooftop garden/view is pleasant and so are the people who work here. The hotel is older and many of the rooms (at least the two we saw and one we stayed in) are quite small with even smaller bathrooms. However, the location is hard to beat and the service, like I said, was top notch.

With a really reasonable rate ($119 plus tax and valet parking) for a location within the Gaslamp District and a great 24 hour restaurant in the lobby, the Ramada was a super choice for our overnight in San Diego. The property is a historic hotel so our queen room was small but charming and more than adequate. Everything 'worked' and...

The staff is beyond belief, very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. .the rooftop view is spectacular. Kenlan, Jaret, and the Valet crew are all gentlemen of excellent character. .I am a regular here at St. James..with Brians 24 next door, they cater to business travelers. 5 stars! !!!

Love the location of the hotel, the history, character, price, and the staff was great! But, the poor condition of the bathtub, poor TV reception and the cockroaches! Man the last thing you want to see in bathroom is cockroaches especially when your in the shower!

All right....I went with price and was sorry. The hotel is old. The elevators are slow and one wasn't working during our stay. Everything about the place said 'I am old and tired.' Tiny rooms, tiny bathrooms. Location is good. Don't eat at the restaurant next door if you stay here.
