First of all the rooms are dingy and way more cramped compared to other comparable business hotels in Boston. Room has no mini-bar and very basic amenities. All amenities are mostly based on request only. Also the carpets and upholstery don't give that refreshing appeal to a business traveler. The look and feel of the room is depressing. And the...

Dear shankarsm, We know our historic hotel does not appeal to all travelers. This renovated 1925 era building was recently restored and decorated with art deco/modern style in keeping with the theatre district neighborhood. On your next visit please consider one of our executive level rooms - they are spacious and include upgraded amenities. At Marriott we have strict cleanliness...

This was the best Courtyard I've visited. Zero issues and great staff all around. Right around the corner from Chinatown and plenty of dining options. Just note, the window above the bed was drafty but the window treatments kept out the weather.

I have stayed at courtyard hotels in the past and they have been average. Not this one. Very attractive lobby with a small but cosy lounge. Rooms are better than expected, great pillows and modern decor. Water available in fridge on our floor and our room was very quiet. Great location downtown close the Boston Common the theatres. I would...

We will never stay at this hotel again. Boston Marathon runners - BEWARE and don't waste your time, money, and hard-earned trip to run Boston by staying here. Despite asking for a 'quieter room' and being placed on the 12th floor, we were awake until after 2am due to loud, drunk groups of people apparently heading to the night club...

We stayed in two rooms on 7th floor for 4 nights. Location is great and convenient, the personnel are very friendly. The rooms were very nice, clean, had been recently renovated. Lobby nice spot to sit and sip and chat in the evening. Free wifi is a plus. The lobby smells good! We'll definitely return here when in Boston!

We have stayed at this hotel before, returned for this stay, but won't be back. The staff was nice enough, check in was a bit disorganzed, but the real problem was with the room. It was clean enough with typical Marriott double (not queen) beds. No drawers, very plain, very austere. The bathroom was narrow, a single sink, and slow...

Management response:

Good Morning Richard U, Thank you for your candid feedback from your recent stay with us. I would like to apologize for the noise disturbance during the late hours of the evening. I would love to speak with you further about your experience. The lovely thing about our historic hotel is that each room has a slightly different lay out...

I stayed in this hotel for two nights on business. This was a great location downtown; however the street is quite noisy since you're in the theater district. You are in close proximity to restaurants; Subway, Panera, Abby Lane and Blaze Pizza..which was absolutely delicious! The staff was very helpful; St. John at the front desk was a gem. The...

This hotel is in a Great Location Downtown that is in walking distance to many sites located in the theater area. I enjoyed the cool decor and fun bar and lounge area. I found the hotel clean and inviting. There is a small restaurant area and breakfast was pretty good. My friend I traveled with stays here often and said...

The hotel is located in a nice location if you are walking the Backbay or going to see a show, otherwise I would not stay here again. The bar is small and not appealing, the room was located on the 15th floor and was very small. The breakfast on the other hand was incredibly good. The cook was awesone.

Dear Chris H, It is true that the guest rooms in our historic building are smaller than typical hotels, but we are within an easy walking distance to "the T", Boston's subway, which helps many of our guests to travel quickly and easily in Boston and Cambridge. Additionally, we are located within easy walking distance of shopping, restaurants and only...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
