The hotel location is great (just across Boston Commons) with beautiful views from any rooms (even city) and close to everything in downtown. The service is great (staff genuinely wants to help you) . If you have kids, they would have kids boxes with toys to play and snacks to eat, bathrobes, cribs, etc. The pool has perfect depth of 3-4-1/2", so it is just right for kids and adults. The pool has nice view on the park, and dry/wet saunas in the locker rooms open. They no longer have full spa service, but can do in-room service (did not try it as they I do prefer when it is inside of spa room). Food service is very good (although a bit more expensive even for Four Seasons than expected): 1) There is breakfast in the morning on second floor with nice selection of food items. I do agree that the area is on smaller side however; Those who did not like the size of breakfast area in this hotel, - it is still bigger than of the FS on Dalton street. 2) There is a wonderful coffee shop on first floor, which is open daily the morning and late afternoon on Fri/St. They serve free (for hotel guests only) coffee/tea/cappuccinos, small pastries in the morning and small tasty snacks in afternoon. They also have sandwiches and some items for purchase. I think it is very nice touch, and they have cheerful staff, so you feel great stopping by there; 3) Dinner available on second or fifth floor restaurants as well; 4) They also have 3:30pm lobby tea; 5) Fruits/snacks/water (including sparkling with flavors) at the pool /gym area; 6) and do not forget the "Vault" on 6th floor with changing snack and mineral water; 7) Room and Pool service is available too. The menu is the same for all locations. (They used to have a large restaurant on first floor, where we used to dine several years ago while staying at the hotel, but I think the space is now rented? to a furniture store due to drop in ability to serve b/s of Covid). The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and it is nice to have a refrigerator (former self-bar). The working desk is a bit small (barely fit my laptop). If you do need anything like a coffee machine or stationary, they would be happy to bring - just ask. The wi-fi is free. The bath is great and I do like that it has both a tub and a standing shower. And Yes, they do clean your room daily - thank you for keeping this service. The valet is great. When driving to the hotel, do keep it to the right to make sure not to miss the entrance. This is classic hotel (oppose to more modern-style one on Dalton street) and I do prefer it that way. We will return.…
I recently stayed at the Four Seasons with my husband and two sons, 6 and 8 years old, for the marathon weekend which also fell on Easter weekend. They went out of their way to have special bags for the runners in our rooms waiting, and brought special Easter baskets for our children the night before Easter. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, whatever the request. The location cannot be beat, and the views of the Gardens and Commons are stunning, both from our room and the pool. The pool and hot tub are great if you have children. The concierge helped us with all of our reservations, and the staff greeted each of us runners with cheers and applause when we returned to the hotel after the race. The hotel played such a large role in making our trip absolutely wonderful!
Disappointing and not in keeping with other Four Seasons hotels we have visited. The main issue was around the provision (or lack thereof) of a proper breakfast service. A small bar area had been given over to breakfast service (no buffet) with a few (small) tables - some with uncomfortable high stools and the whole set up was wholly inadequate for a hotel of this size and stature. There was a small coffee shop open in the lobby - basic and with long queues of guests probably due to lack of proper breakfast service option. We tried room service - ok - but not the same experience as a leisurely breakfast in a beautiful environment which we’ve experience elsewhere at Four Seasons hotels and as a family of 4 it meant we couldn’t have breakfast together but had to eat separately in our rooms. Service was generally patchy and again not up to the experience we’ve had elsewhere. I suspect this hotel is trading on its great location. Other nearby eateries provided amazing tasty quick breakfasts and we were baffled why a hotel of this size hadn’t been able to offer more to its customers, particularly given the price of the rooms.…
This old Four Seasons was fully renovated and is very well run. The location is unbearable on the Commons within walking distance to several good restaurants and stores. Our room was all new and the staff were very helpful. We had stayed there in years past and even though there is a new one that we also recently stayed at we prefer the original with its upgrades and improvements.
Overpriced at this time when restaurant and overall staff levels are low. The hotel was quite empty. Breakfast was served in the bar - no buffet. Restaurant service in the evening was provided by bar staff who were tending to the bar and therefore were too busy (and presumably not used to) serving properly at the restaurant. Hotel should either drop prices or staff up properly. You cannot provide sparse services and charge standard prices. Would not recommend
