Intercontinental Boston delivered one of our best and most memorable hotel stays. We enjoyed 7 nights here. The customer service experience was outstanding. All departments of the hotel delivered exceptional service. Our check-in experience was professional, super friendly and informative. The perfect start! A special mention to the team who manage the daily room clean (Our room was 502). The room was cleaned to a very high standard and the team member who looked after our room was super warm and friendly. It was a pleasure seeing her everyday, working super hard to deliver the best standards for this hotel. We enjoyed some amazing breakfasts. Special thank you to Annie who served us at breakfast. A perfect host and exceptional service. We used the Club Lounge during our stay. A fantastic experience. Great space to relax. The management team at this hotel have got the perfect balance here. The food, drinks and the space were just right. Plenty of options! Krish, Francesca and Dennis were the perfect hosts. By far the best club lounge team I have ever come across. Attention to detail, warm, welcoming and always provided plenty of tips of places to visit in Boston. Thank you. We look forward to visiting again.

The Boston Intercontinental is a gem of a hotel, located right in the financial district and along the Boston Main Channel. 15 minutes from the airport, it provides easy access in and out of the city while also being located close to many major company offices. Check-in is always warm and friendly, no matter the time of day, and the rooms are quiet and comfortable, though starting to show a bit of their age. There are plenty of dining options nearby and the beds are plush and snug. The rooms also come with all the basis you would expect from a high-end business hotel (Wi-Fi, ironing board, etc.) The only thing missing is a couple of bottles of water in the room, which at this level, I find somewhat amazing. (There isn’t a drugstore or a market nearby that has easy access either.) Still, missing one amenity is a small price to pay for a comfortable bed and an easy commute to your morning meetings.

Totally awesome hotel experience for my two-night business trip. My 'junior suite' was not a 'suite' by any definition of that term, but still the largest non-suite hotel room I've ever stayed in, with a great view of the harbour. Location downtown is optimal, bed and room set-up were comfy, practical, and amenable to work, staff are helpful and seem well trained, room service is fast, great on all those counts. Negatives are the lack of any convenience-type amenities in the hotel, such as a shop for sundries (e.g., my forgotten toothpaste), or a casual coffee-shop type place to grab a quick bite. To be fair, there's plenty within a few blocks of the hotel, but it would be nice to have that within the hotel. Also, quite annoying that the hotel has the cojones to charge a 'resort fee' on top of the already very expensive room rate. But overall, I was quite happy to stay there.

The location was perfect - by the harbour, within walking distance to the South Station. The room was a double queen because that was strangely the most economical which meant the room was large and spacious. The bathroom was gigantic and had both a shower stall and a tub. The staff couldn't have been lovelier - especially the concierge: Adam who was so brilliant it is hard to even put it into words. He had suggestions and top tips about everything and was so genuinely excited when we reported back how much we had enjoyed his recommendations. The gym was really well served and busy enough not to feel creepy but never overcrowded. The only thing that dampened our stay was the hidden charges - $35 amenity fee for the opportunity to use things seemed a bit excessive and the "free breakfast" came in at a smart $10 a day - why, I wonder? (The breakfast was priced at over $100 a day when we signed for the "bill" which seems a little over the top). Amazing cocktails at the bar - but at $25 a pop you would hope for them to be delivered by a Swedish Masseuse. It would be a perfect place to stay on an expense account, but brace yourself if you are paying for the bill yourself.

My partner and I are frequent guests of IHG’s and Intercontinental is our favourite brand - we’ve stayed at Intercons all over the world, including Fiji, Bali, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Sydney, Barcelona and Santiago to name but a few. This is by far the worst experience we’ve ever had at an Intercontinental Hotel. A formal complaint was sent to the IHG Rewards Team who were quick to respond, advising they had raised a complaint and sent it to the hotel management team for feedback. This was almost a week ago, and no one from the hotel ever got back to us. In brief - reason why we would not recommend the hotel: - Staff are poorly trained - Senior staff are rude - At check in we were given room keys that didn’t work. Having taken our bags all the way up to the room to realise this, we had to go all the way back down again. Same thing happened a second time. The guy on Reception was pleasant enough but clearly new and there was another make and female colleague just stood giggling at the side the whole time, unwilling to help him. For the third time Reception had decided the room key box needed charging so they changed our room and we eventually got in - at this point the female colleague finally helped, but the senior male colleague just stood smirking the whole time - IHG Platinum Rewards was not recognised at check in - no points or drinks vouchers were offered - No room upgrade was offered even though they were selling plenty of upgrade rooms the that evening - On the Saturday, my partner and I, plus two other couples, got drinks at the bar and went to sit outside. About 20 minutes later a waiter came out and shouted at us all saying ‘This is a service area - you should not be here! This is a service area!!!’ - The hotel public areas are tired and in need of refurbishment - Pillows in the rooms are too small for the beds - Asked to speak to a manager and was told no one was available (Sunday morning) - The one positive was the housekeeping staff who were very friendly the whole time Based on the above, we will no return - we will stay at the Hotel Indigo next time we visit.

We have been going to this hotel for three years every time we visit our son, who goes to college in the area. At first, the service and amenities were top-notch but over time, everything has declined. The slippers disappeared, then the personal toiletries were replaced with large bottles attached to the wall, pillows are no longer down or fluffy. No pen or paper in the room. The furniture is starting to show wear, and on our last visit, the two drawers in the bathroom fell out, water leaked from the shower, and breakfast in Miel was not good (I asked for eggs scrambled with onions and the eggs came out with a slice of raw onion on the plate). For our loyalty, we were given a room on a low floor right near the elevator with a view of the roof, this despite being IHG members who have a standing request to be away from the elevator and on a higher floor (the hotel was not full and I reserved the room months ago). But the biggest issue has been that when we checked out, the computer system was down. A manager wrote down our room number and the fact that we had just paid for our parking in the garage. He assured me we would not be charged twice and that we would receive our bill as soon as the system was back up (he thought 15 minutes). That night, hours later, I called to ask for the bill and to remind them about the parking fee. I was reassured again but still no bill appeared in my email. I called every day for about four days before I finally got a bill with the parking charge. I called to say I had been double charges and I emailed a copy of our receipt. No response, no credit. I have now called almost every day since checking out on October 15 and have gotten no response. I was transferred to a manager who is, conveniently, never able to answer and has not returned my calls or my husband’s. When I call the front desk, I am told that they will investigate and get back to me—despite the fact that I emailed them a copy of the charge. At this point, it’s not about the $65/day I should not have been charged—it’s the blatant disregard and the terrible customer service. They obviously do not care about their clientele, and there are so many hotels in Boston that it is not necessary to put up with this. I would avoid. What a shame.
