We stayed in the Garden Room for 4 nights, and loved it. The location is very convenient, both to train and walking to places. The room was quiet, beautifully renovated, and the bed dreamily comfortable. James, the owner was very helpful with suggestions and directions. We had a shared kitchenette with another room, and provisions for an extensive continental breakfast...

My daughter and I loved staying at the Gilded Lily. The brownstone was quaint. The furnishings were beautiful. The bed and pillows were sumptuous. The continental breakfast was available in a kitchen on the same floor and to get at our leisure and take back to the privacy of our own room. James was available if needed and pleasant when...

Many of our family members had previously stayed at the Gilded Lily and raved about it, but it still exceeded our expectations. The location is great - very close to Massachusetts Avenue T station - and the street is quiet and residential. There are restaurants and bars nearby and Copley Square is just a short walk. We stayed in two...

I think there are better choices. While room is spacious and clean, not having temperature control and have narrow stair walkup isn't ideal. Address is confusing as Claremont Park and Claremont Street are close to each other. Location is convenient.

I am truly sorry we were unable to get the temperature at a comfortable place for you. Keeping the temperature just right for each individual guest, especially in the fall and in the spring when there are wide fluctuations is day and night time temperatures, is a challenge for us. With that said, all of our thermostats are set at...

We loved our stay at the Gilded Lily while in town for a U2 concert. It is in a gorgeous part of town with lots of food/drink in walking distance. There are bus stops around both corners, and a train station as well. We utilized trains/buses to get almost everywhere. From the Gilded Lily it was easy to visit everything...

Our Parlor Room on third floor was beautiful, spacious and comfortable. We loved picking up our breakfast in adjacent kitchen and bringing to a small table and chairs to eat in our room. Might be the best B&B I ever had the pleasure to stay in. Great location outside bustle of downtown. 5 minute walk to subway and great restaurants...

Our stay at The Gilded Lily was very pleasant B&B located near an Orange line stop, and within walking distance to some great area restaurants. Host was great to work with our early arrive and late departure. Room was comfortable, clean and well appointed. Great value and would definitely stay here again!

Let me start by saying that a B&B of this quality is a great alternative to hotels. Gilded Lily has a very comfortable and relaxed interior but also gives a good feel of 'new'. The furniture in the 'Garden' room ( not in the garden just the name given to it) was nice and practical. The bathroom was modern and...

Character building with luxurious room in an excellent location to visit Bahston on foot, yes walking. Good restaurants nearby too, so do not rent a car until you are leaving Boston. James is a wonderful host and can give you many hints on where to go and what to visit, he is intrigued with architecture which is then contagious! We...

The Gilded Lily is situated in South End, a beautiful and safe inner city suburb. There are great transport options within a 5 minute walk and the Back Bay area, where there are lots of restaurants, shopping and amenities is an easy and level 15 minute walk. The room itself (Parlour Room 1) was extremely spacious, very tastefully decorated and...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
