I have stayed at this hotel for years but when I was last there they were catering to cheap Bus Tours from out of state that got loaded every night and partied to sunrise. They claim they have a security guard from sundown to sunrise but security was weak, did not investigated and watched TV all night.

I understand accommodations in Boston can be quite expensive for a family of 5. I found the Constitution Inn thinking this would be perfect hotel for us. Boasted "a suite". Nothing sweet about it. We had no dishes, pots, pans etc. I had called ahead and requested them, was told it was a $50 deposit. No problem. Please have them...

We stayed at this hotel because it offered a military discount. It was definitely a no frills hotel but adequate for a long weekend visit to Boston. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms clean. The area was quiet and we felt very safe walking in the neighborhood after dark.

Water at sink was scalding hot and the cold water knob didn't work. Asked to have it fixed....wasn't. Very dangerous. Tried to call and leave a message for another guest after I left... no process to do so!

I thought place was a good option in Boston with my daughter for a couple of nights visiting colleges. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The place seems to be part hotel, part transitional housing for people from the YMCA next door. The walls are cinder block. The hallways aren't clean. There was a kitchenette with the counter that was tilting down...

At one star, this hotel is overrated, but that as low as I can go. Checked in to a room a few weeks ago and it was vile, emitting a nauseous smell. There was a stain on the bathroom floor. The kitchenette contained appliances out of the 60's and the cabinets were decrepit and falling apart. The aura was that...

My wife & I spent two short stays at the Constitution Inn at either end of a two week trip in Northern USA. We approached this initially with trepidation having read recent adverse reports on this forum & on others. We initially booked the Constitution Inn on grounds of cost & locality, both of which make it attractive. Boston is...

This hotel was part of a flight and hotel package for us so I suppose it was my fault for not looking more carefully but it was a bit dire to say the least. The exterior in its web presence looks lovely but actually it is drab and dirty. It is next to and seems to be affiliated with a...

Stayed here for 4 night's at start of month. No problem with check in and room what was expected. Spacious but only basic decor etc. Location within quiet complex of residential and various other properties. Within walking distance of Bunker Hill and nearby naval attractions. Reasonably close to subway station and can walk to central area within - 30 mins....

Downtown which is the only positive thing. Overpriced for the quality. The oldest cheapest coffee and coffee machine. The smallest sink I have seen and everything else is just so cheap. They charge $239 . Really ?

Staying in Charlestown

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlestown’s hilly roads, narrow streets and gaslight lamps, make it an enticing neighborhood to visit. Follow the Freedom Trail over the Washington St bridge from the North End or take the scenic water locks to Paul Revere Park. Walk through City Square and stroll down cute Main street, wandering up the windy residential streets to Monument Square, where you can learn about the city’s history along with a great view of Boston at the Bunker Hill Monument. While it’s not a huge area, there are some excellent restaurants. Find your way to the Charlestown Navy Yard, which is a developing area with lots of condos and an additional site for Massachusetts General Hospital research centers. Here you will also find the USS Constitution Museum. After you’re done, hop on an MBTA ferry at the dock on Baxter street and zip on over to Long Wharf and the New England Aquarium.
