John Jeffries house is steps away from mass gen hospital, a metro train stop and lots of parks. It is also very close to a number of good restaurants along beacon street and supermarkets, delis, drugstores are all within walking distance. The rooms are very spacious and beds very comfortable. They offer 24 hour coffee service and breakfast consists of...

our two twin beds and kitchenette were comfy and clean! we had a basement room, and upon arrival, the windows had been left open, which provided a lovely breeze with the unexpected scent of some nearby flowering trees - wish we could have bottled that scent - it really made for a lovely stay! We had a super quick check...

A friend and I were making a not-planned-much-in-advance trip to Boston, and appalled at the hotel prices. We stumbled upon this place and booked it. Best decision ever! Caddy-corner from the T stop, so very handy for exploring the city. One side is Charles street, fun to walk around on with plenty of restaurants. The other side, over a pedestrian...

I was visiting Fisher College with my daughter. This place is a short walk from the school. I was in a studio room that was priced reasonably. I think this is one of the cleanest places I have stayed. It reminded me of my favorite B & B in Switzerland. The reception area and the two ladies there were so...

This is a lovely hotel and had the best price for the quality and location, which was very convenient to the Back Bay and the North End. It is accurately represented on their website. It's an interesting walk past shops and restaurants down Charles Street to Boson Commons where we could hop on the Duck Tours to go to other...

I stayed here May 18 - 19 staying in a single room on the 3rd floor. The room was quiet and clean and I appreciated having a kitchenette. The complimentary breakfast is basic but considering the price point I didn't expect much and was fine with having an assortment of fresh fruit and select blends of teas. I don't drink...

A room at the John Jeffries House was booked for me because I was attending meetings in Boston. Perhaps it is cheaper than other hotels in the area. Our nightly rate was $220. The area the hotel is in is very convenient to the T, and it's nice to be close to the river. There are lots of restaurants and...

Fabulous location near the train station with water views. The whole neighborhood around the hotel is clean and charming and fun to walk around. We stayed 2 nights and loved our junior suite. It's not "fancy", the furniture is a little rustic, but that's what we love. We stayed on the recommendation of a co-worker who used to live in...

Wouldn't you think that if the a/c was broken in the entire hotel the front desk would inform the folks checking in of this fact? Kind of hard to see the good things about the hotel when we were so hot and sticky all night long. A/C blew hot air all night long and sleep was almost impossible. Sad since...

This a nice place to stay near MGH. It is an older building which has been fully modernized. It is very close to a large bridge overpass which concerned me when I arrived, but the soundproofing was perfect and I heard no traffic noise. Hotel is very moderately priced compared to others in the area. Nice location for access to...

Staying in Beacon Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse up close of the State House with its beautiful and iconic dome.
