We have always enjoyed staying at the John Jefferies House, because it is a basic clean hotel at good price. When we travel we like to be out and about doing things, so we don’t spend much time in our hotel room. John Jeffries has stayed the same over the years except for the price. It is no longer a...

I stayed here, due to the snowstorm. Continental breakfast is included and has more options than some places I have been. Rooms are very nice; you have a kitchen & the sleeping area. Sometimes you can hear the red line train, but it didn't bother me when I was sleeping. Great place to stay in Boston: you are right near...

This hotel is perfectly located, immediately next to one T stop and a couple of blocks from another T stop and the commuter rail. The airport is just a couple of T stops away. It is a very well-kept secret, formerly I believe, a sort of bed and breakfast for folks getting care at the adjacent Mass General and Mass...

Dear Stephanie V, Thank you for staying with us and for your thoughtful and informative review. The John Jeffries is a refreshing change from the homogenized hotel you find almost everywhere. With our fabulous location, amazing staff and reasonable rates it is no wonder guests love us. I was pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay and good news...

This was our second visit to the John Jeffries House in less than a year. As before, we chose it because of its close proximity to Mass Eye and Ear, as well as Charles Street. We were also visiting Emerson College and it was about a 10 minute walk to the Campus. The room was great, clean, comfortable, quiet. In...

We've stayed here several times. The rooms are nice, the staff is helpful and friendly. One of the best features is that it is close to a T stop. It's just off Charles Street which has some cute shops and restaurants. You can also walk along the river just a block or so away.

Dear JGW33782, Thank you for your review. We agree that our location is fantastic, but we also have some pretty fantastic amenities as well. We have recently upgraded our mattresses to pillowtop mattresses, we now carry L'Occitane amenities, and we have upgraded our breakfast as well. Thank you again for your continued support and I look forward to welcoming you...

This is located in Beacon Hill and across the street from the T and close to many great restaurants, shops etc but the stay was not remarkable. The rooms were small, the linens were quite scratchy and the mattresses were quite worn with visible dips in the surface. The breakfast was adequate with yogurt and some whole peices of fruit...

Dear Srqchick, Thank you for your comments. I noticed that you stayed at the John Jeffries in October of 2016, since then we have replaced all of our mattresses with Serta perfect sleeper pillow top mattresses and have also replaced all of our linen. We have a variety of rooms available some which are quite large for the price, I...

The information binder that was in our room called this place "Boston's Best Kept Secret" and I would have to agree. We came to Boston to see the World Figure Skating Championships in March 2016. However, finding a hotel within our price range proved to be harder than we had expected and almost caused us to cancel our trip. Then...

Dear Brooklet425, Thank you for your very thoughtful and thorough review. The John Jeffries has made quite a few changes since you last stayed with us in March. We stayed at John Jeffries House for a quick Boston getaway. The room was clean and had a small kitchenette. Parking is offsite three doors down and reasonable. Check-in was very friendly and efficient. The location is a great combination of Beacon Hill and the footbridge to Cambridge.

I used to use this B&B as my business hotel on my every-other week business trip to Cambridge for three years in the 90s. It provides a very affordable lodging alternative for an otherwise expensive Boston hotel inventory. The location is great! You are located at the end of Charles Street just 100 feet or so from the MGH/Charles Street...

Just stayed four nights at the John Jeffries Hotel in Boston. Location, location, location. Small friendly hotel with a very good price in the heart of Boston right across the street from the Red "T" . Not fancy but very clean.

Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street.
