At The Eliot Hotel, guests consistently commend the service for its professionalism and warmth, despite occasional remarks about breakfast. While opinions on value vary, with some finding the price steep, others believe the luxury and stellar location justify the cost. The hotel's lack of a gym and spa is noted, yet the suites' comfort and historic character are widely celebrated. The cleanliness is exceptional, with travelers appreciating the daily service. Located conveniently near attractions and dining, The Eliot's rooms are praised for their style and spaciousness, contributing to the hotel's old-world charm.

Great hotel that operates in a classic old-world style. By that I mean attention to detail, friendly and attentive staff, comfortable non-cookie-cutter rooms. From the doormen who would remember you when you returned, to the guy who knocked on our door asking if we would like bottles of water, to the desk attendants who welcomed you in every time, it is service such as one rarely receives anymore. We had a light switch in our bathroom that wasn't working properly and we informed them when we went out. Returning a few hours later, it was fixed. Rooms are homey and comfortable with a separate living room and bedroom. Location of the hotel was perfect as we were going to Fenway and the MGM Music Hall along with MoFA and the Gardner. A block from the end of Newbury St. Yes, it costs more than we usually pay in a major city, but sometimes it's just worth it. Would definitely stay here again on a trip to Boston.

I wish to thank this guest for taking the time to review their stay and for the wonderful compliments and high rating! The Eliot is committed to providing personalized service, so our friendly and genuinely caring staff ensure that guests are well attended to. I'm delighted this was so evident for this guest. In many ways, the Eliot exemplifies the dichotomy of old and new that makes Boston so distinctive. The hotel's classical architecture and opulent lobby blends seamlessly with the modern designer room décor and contemporary public art. And it is true, that our envied location on park-like residential Commonwealth Avenue in Boston's elegant Back Bay district is super-convenient to so many of Boston's great resources, located just outside our front doors. I would be grateful to welcome this guest back once again!

I spent a single night here as a getaway gift from my husband. The doorman and front desk clerk were both very kind and helpful on arrival. I did notice a stale cigarette smell when I got to the 7th floor and into my room. I just assumed it was an old building and maybe this had previously been the smoking floor. The smell didn't last as I entered my room, it didn't bother me or my sinuses or anything, and I honestly thought very little of it.

That night I dined in the restaurant; they creatively established the bottom floor rooms into semi-private dining areas as a way to socially distance customers for COVID19 precautions. The food was pricey but delicious, I recommend giving it a try, just go prepared to drop a pretty penny. The dining staff were kind and very professional.

Everything went great, got to shop right there eon Newbury St., valet service was smooth, checked out with ease the next day.

I am giving it a 4 star because I was charged $200 as a smoking penalty. I couldn't tell what the charge was so when my husband called they informed us that it was because I allegedly smoked in the room -I was pretty upset - I don't smoke at all. The person we spoke with on the phone basically laughed at us saying that no one else had used the room since a week before my arrival so it had to have been me. She said she would have the room inspector contact us but implied it was effectively a lost cause because they knew it was me. At this time I did not feel that the Eliot Staff was trying, in any way to help us sort this out. However, despite the discouraging phone call, the inspector apologized and they refunded the money to us promptly.

I wish they had the tone "lets figure this out" and not "you know what you did", but I can't fault the entire hotel because one staff member was having a bad day.

I do recommend staying here, I hope to take my family here in the future for a night in the city; just note, if you smell smoke, report it!

I wish to thank this guest for taking the time to review her stay and for the kind compliments about our guest service, restaurant and enviable location. With respect to the "smoking charge," I regret that when calling to dispute the charge, her perception was that the veracity of her statement was being questioned. That certainly isn't ever our intention. The staff member whom she spoke with intended to provide information to support the rationale for the charge. We, of course, always endeavor to ensure interactions with our guests are affirming and helpful. I am sorry this was not the case initially, but am gratified this guest was satisfied with the final resolution to the matter. I am delighted this guest continues to "recommend" the Eliot and intends to return once again. It will certainly be my pleasure to welcome her back.

Our house was under construction so my family needed a place to stay. We decided to stay at the Eliot Hotel for one night. The experience was fantastic! We parked outside and the bellman was very friendly to us. We were greeted kindly by the front desk. The check-in process was very smooth and it was contactless. The room was very comfortable and clean. The housekeeper gave us extra towels and bathroom supplies and made the sofa bed. They gave us complementary masks which was very thoughtful of them.

I highly recommend booking a room at this hotel as the location of the hotel is fantastic being near Newbury st and the Prudential Building there are many places to get take out or dine safely. The staff is what makes the hotel great, makes you feel like long time friends with them.

From the second you pull up to the Eliot Hotel in your car, you feel like a welcome friend rather than a hotel guest. I have been staying here for years, and every single employee you come across is genuinely friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are done in beautiful grey marble, the toiletries are fantastic, the beds are comfortable, and the suites are spacious and tastefully decorated. But more than anything, it is the staff that makes this place so great. On my most recent visit, I stayed with a friend whose daughter lives in Boston. She and her roommate came over to have dinner with us at Uni, and when they went back to their apartment, they had been robbed. They came back to stay with us at the hotel and when we told the hotel what had happened, they couldn't have been kinder. I absolutely love every single thing about this place.

I wish to thank this guest for taking the time to review her stay and for the high rating. It is also always a special pleasure to welcome back members of our family of repeat guests! As a hotel dedicated to personalized service, it is gratifying to know this guest felt "like a friend rather than a hotel guest." Our boutique hotel's small size certainly contributes to the sense of warmth and intimacy that allows our staff to really know our guests. It was shocking and disappointing to hear about this guest's daughter's experience, when only hours before the same daughter was enjoying dinner with her mother at the hotel. Although we realized there was nothing we could do, we expressed our empathy and concern they way one would for any "friend." It will certainly be our pleasure to welcome this guest back again to her home in Boston.

We booked a room last minute when another hotel screwed up our reservation. Sandeep was so very helpful on the phone & thankfully had a room available that was large enough to accommodate our family of 5. Everything was very clean & sanitized, everyone wore masks and adhered to proper social distancing, etc. The room itself was also very clean and comfortable. I can’t say enough about how friendly and helpful everyone on staff was, excellent really! We had a great night & would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in Boston!

We spent a couple of nights at The Eliot at the end of our two week driving trip in New England. It was a very nice property in a good location with a couple of important caveats. Knowing them in advance wouldn't have changed our decision to stay there but we would have planned a little differently.
The first is that there is NO parking in the area. You have to valet park and even being able to get to the curb to leave the car for the valet is a challenge. The Eliot is on a very busy corner with a lot of traffic. The doormen are really good about directing you and other traffic so that you can drop off and, more importantly, get back into the flow of traffic when you leave; but there is no "come and go" with your car on a whim. We did a lot of walking while there but we would have maybe arranged our plans a little differently if we'd known that in advance. The other is that, while there are some good views, you need to ask about the view from your room beforehand. Our room looked over the roof of another part of the hotel and/or adjacent buildings. It was pretty ugly. It would have been much nicer to have a room overlooking Commonwealth Ave.
Speaking of Commonwealth, there is a green space along Commonwealth that is wonderful. We did quite a bit of walking along it getting to and from various places in the area. Lots of trees, benches, statues, etc... Just a nice way to move around that part of the city as opposed to congested and narrow sidewalks.
If you need cash, there is a Chase ATM right across Massachusetts Ave. Very convenient. And in the other direction, Fenway Park is a short (block or two?) walk to the west.
The room itself was nice. The bar area was pretty small but that was in a large living area. The bedroom was pretty tight but again, with the living area, we really only used the bedroom to set up our suitcases. There were TVs in both the bedroom and the living room.
I was a little aggravated when we arrived and saw what the parking situation was like but, as I said, the doormen did a good job of mitigating a bad location (for parking, drop off and pick up) and the other positive aspects of the stay more than offset that negative one.

I wish to thank this guest for taking the time to review their stay and for the kind compliments about our location, accommodations and staff. It is true that parking, (and driving), in Boston can be a challenge, particularly because of our urban location in Boston's historic Back Bay district where there is extremely limited parking. Prospective guests will find it helpful to know that the hotel uses a nearby garage to park guest cars and provides valet service for guests from the front of the hotel. This guest was also very accurate in noting that not all rooms overlook the neighborhood, so guests for whom a view is a priority may request so prior to arrival and we will do our best to accommodate accordingly. I'm delighted that, overall, this guest had such a positive stay, and hope to welcome them back once again the next time they may have occasion to visit Boston!

My boyfriend and I stayed for a week at the Eliot Hotel and were beyond impressed. The location is perfect in that you can walk to Fenway, all the area restaurants, the T and many of the local colleges and universities. Our suite was very spacious; the bathroom was huge, the living section was comfortable and there was a separate small room off to the side that stored glasses, coffee equipment and a mini-bar. We asked for a small fridge and were given that with hesitation or question, which was greatly appreciated. But by far the best thing about the Eliot Hotel was the staff. Everyone was pleasant and ready to help with a smile if need be. Our car was unfortunately hit soon after we arrived but the manager quickly took care of everything - from dealing with the claim, towing our car to a garage in our hometown and providing us with a rental to use until it is fixed. Everyone went above and beyond and we are so thankful for that. We will definitely stay at the Eliot Hotel without hesitation when we next head to Boston.

The location of the Eliot could not be more convenient for shopping and browsing on Newbury St. The old school charm and friendly staff is the first thing to notice. Traveling with others, we chose a 2 bedroom suite w/common area and 2 baths. Very private for all involved, which is just what we were looking for.
Homemade chocolate “welcome cookies”, such as nice touch. It feels like home, safe and comfortable. It’s our “go to” hotel when visiting Boston!

I wish to thank this guest for taking the time to review her stay and for the generous rating! As a boutique hotel, the designer elements and personalized service compliment the boutique ambience of nearby Newbury Street, one of the nation's noteable shopping streets, filled with boutique shops, art galleries, restaurants, salons and specialty shops. Our, primarily, all suite hotel offers spacious accommodations, often at costs comparable to the standard rooms of our competitors. The two-bedroom suite is an ideal arrangement for families and I am delighted it was able to serve a vital role in creating such an "at home" atmosphere. It will be my pleasure to welcome this guest back to her home in Boston!

The Eliot Hotel is an example of a miniature, pristine English / French little hotel.
As you pull in, you are welcomed by a uniformed doorman, helped with luggage, and escorted to a lovely lobby. We selected a one bedroom suite and it was spacious, with elegant touches, beds extremely comfortable. Area is great, restaurants, and shopping nearby. One of my favorite Eliot representatives was the guest services manager; Sandeep Dhadve , he answered my questions, helped me with restaurants, and was always kind and helpful. Would return to hotel with no hesitation. I am so glad to have stayed at such an elegant boutique hotel. Great find.

I did not see any pets last time I was there. However, they are a pet-friendly hotel. Most hotels have specific rooms that are reserved for pet owners in order to keep rooms for people who are allergic. I was not able to find this information, but please feel free to contact the hotel directly: 617-267-1607. Excellent hotel choice, I recommend.
