The people were nice and accommodating, and the room was clean and quiet. The location is fantastic. I definitely wished for curtains in addition to the blinds in the Manitou room however, because the sun comes up through the windows in the mornings and the blinds do not block it out, so don't expect to sleep past 5AM in the summer. Also, there is no fan in the bathroom and the door has slats on it that don't block any sounds at all, so there was no privacy whatsoever. The wi-fi was slow and incredibly spotty -- almost unusable.

We stayed at Greunke's in the Wild Rose room for four nights, and we really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, the beds were comfy, and we weren't bothered by outside noise. The location really can't be beat. We walked to the boat dock for our excursions out to the islands, and on days when the restaurant isn't open, there are plenty of good ones within walking distance as well. Speaking of the restaurant, the food is wonderful! We had both breakfast and supper there during our stay, and we were all very impressed. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the owner will gladly tell you stories about the history of the place if you ask.
The only reason I docked a star is because of the bathroom. The toilet and shower each have their own little room, and the sink is out in the room. That in itself was convenient, since 5 of us were using one bathroom, but the toilet room didn't have a vent and even when freshly cleaned didn't always smell the freshest. The shower room is small. I didn't mind, but if you're on the bigger side, it might be a little cramped. Yes, the building does show its age a bit, and yes, the décor and linens are mismatched, but to me it was part of the charm of the place. I would definitely recommend Greunke's if you want a fun, convenient place to stay in Bayfield.

I can only speak about the experience as a guest of the Inn (staying two nights over in September 2016.) The location is terrific, and the room is fine.

The important thing to realize is that the Inn is attached to a working restaurant with many staff members. If there was a dedicated staff member for the Inn, I didn't meet that person.

When I checked in for two nights, I was met by someone who worked at the restaurant and shown to the room. There was no opportunity for hostess advice (go to this attraction, check out this restaurant) because the hostess had to get back to the restaurant. No big deal.

I found out that the oscillating fan in the room had a loud clicking noise, and the stem to operate the fan had broken off. The fan essentially didn't work. I would have liked to use the fan, so the next day, I went down to the restaurant. I asked who to talk to about maintenance in the Inn rooms, and I was told to tell the staff at the restaurant, who looked like regular wait staff to me. So I told the first person for a repair/replacement of the fan, and then no one ever took a look at it, or talked to us about it ever. It's like the request never happened.

Not having a working fan is not a big deal, but it was an indication of the priority of the Inn guests. The restaurant guests take priority (there more of them, and they are hungry!) but I paid a lot more than the restaurant guests. I wish there was more balance.

This place is right in the heart of downtown Bayfield. The rooms are super clean and adorable. Make sure you read about all of the different types of rooms because there is quite a variety. Also, for sure eat at the wonderful restaurant.

This is the most place i have ever stayed at. Very disturbing stains on the carpet. It is not safe top stay here, electric is run with cords from outlets into the ceiling, the windows don't lock, the deadbolts are non functional, baseboard heat has burn marks on it, the lights didn't work, auxiliary door was locked with a suitcase lock. Lots of paint chips everywhere( in various colors). This place is bad folks, super bad!

I Made a direct reservation a month in advance for a wedding in bayfield. Check in was confirmed for 2pm in two locations on the email. Wedding ceremony was at 4pm.

We show up at 2:05 and get told check-in is 3pm and our room was not ready or clean and to come back at 4. After some back and forth on how we have a wedding to attend, we eventually got into our room at 3:15 ( just enough time to suit up for the wedding). Our room was clean other than the massive wet spot in the middle from the leaking sink drain.

My wife and I dropped in at Greunke's looking for a room for 2 nights. After some confusion by the desk clerk, we were offered the Studio room. We handed over the credit card and assumed it was for 2 nights, but when we returned from a day's outing on Madeline Island, we found that all our stuff had been removed from the room and unceremoniously stuffed into a large trash bag (hanging clothes, snacks, personal pillows, etc.) and dumped on the floor of a storage closet. The took zero responsibility for the miscommunication and were unfriendly and blaming about the whole incident. We would never stay there again. Plus, the food was average and the wait staff in the restaurant indifferent.

We had a very disappointing experience in the Greunke's Inn and Restaurant. The shower was moldy, the carpets were stained, the screens were ripped, the wait staff was crabby and inattentive, and our two day reservation was completely botched with no apologies. We checked into the hotel looking forward to a two-day stay in Bayfield and the surrounding islands. We returned at the end of the first day tired from a fun day on Madeline Island with the plan to rest a little in our room before we went to dinner. We arrived at our room to find that none of our belongings were there; they had all been thrown into a large plastic bag (including ironed shirts and hanging items) and were stashed in a hallway- type space. The manager said that the person who checked us in had only checked us in for one night and the room had been rented to someone else for the current night! So- at 6:00 at night we were on the streets, with our belongings in garbage bags, to find someplace to stay. We were offered nothing but excuses - not even an apology. The restaurant food was average, the waitress was abrupt and didn't bring us what we ordered. We've traveled the world and this is way up there as one of our worst experiences. Our advice is "don't go there".

We were disappointed in the food but more so with the service. We ordered 3 angus burgers and 1 chicken sandwich, a group of 5 that came in after us got all their food before us, we got half our food and had to wait almost 10 minutes for the rest and then they forgot the bacon on 2 of the burgers and 1 of the orders of fries. The burgers were premade frozen patties not fresh meat. We got our bill and got charged for coleslaw and extra fries twice which we didn't even order. I don't recommend this place to eat!

I was looking forward to this quaint inn. It is clean and furnished with some antique items. We had a room with a bath and were in the building with the pizza shop. The room was a lot smaller than the photo on the web. It was quiet even though the pizza place was downstairs and it is on the main street. The location is the winner here as it is across from the ferry and walking to all shops and restaurants. The matress was very soft so morning back ache was common. The blinds didn't have poles so you had to open/close them by turning the hook at the top. Floor heater was fine to warm the room but I didn't see any A/C if it got hot. We opened the windows and it was cool enough. No hair dryer and the only toiletry was soap. Although internet was available, we were unable to connect in our room at all. This was important for us sonce we routinely plan the next day by checking out things to do and making reservations. There were plastic cups but it would have been nice to have a coffee maker in the room or at least free coffee at the restaurant. Inn seemed to be secondary to the restaurant.
