This hotel is very attractively decorated but the windows are ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. The street noise is beyond ridiculous-- I love Kimptons but will not stay here again because a good night's sleep is just not possible. Let me know when you have new windows.

Hi Seattlekat1, Our suites do face Geary Street, which happens to be considered louder than other rooms. The majority of our rooms are interior and do not experience the street noise. Honestly, the “noise” level seems to be a personal thing. We get a lot of reviews saying that they don’t find the suites noisy. But, if you are a...

This is a beautiful hotel with a fantastic location. The rooms are older, windows have metal running through them but that's part of the deal when you go to a Kimpton. Its almost always a converted building getting a second life. One thing you expect in older buildings is thicker walls. I stayed at a Kimpton in DC that was...

Hi Gina H- You are correct that usually the Monaco hotels are converted buildings. That is definitely the case for us. The walls to the outside are actually four feet thick. The walls between rooms are definitely not that thick. I am sorry to hear your neighbor was so loud. I am not sure if I have ever hearf the...

Like most hotels in the area, it is older and a little dated in many ways. It was a great location and the staff was very helpful. The restaurant was also undergoing renovation so no food or room service - which in SF is not all that bad, but made breakfast a little difficult.

I did a "name your price" on Priceline and ended up at the Monaco. I read some of the reviews, and was very worried that it was going to be a bad hotel. I was pleasantly surprised! The employees were very helpful, the hotel was clean and well kept. The lobby is very lovely and they have a fabulous fireplace...

I am currently staying at this hotel. It's decorated for Christmas and has Christmas music going so it is festive. They also have fires goi in all the fireplaces which I appreciate. The only reason I'm giving this an average rating is because they are currently doing construction throughout the hotel. We were told between 9 and 5 there would...

We had an excellent overall experience at this Union Square/Theater District hotel during Thanksgiving week. The hotel is in a Beaux Arts building, with soaring public spaces well decorated with beautifully executed murals. Service by every employee was enthusiastic, friendly, helpful--outstanding in every respect. Our room, though small, was nicely decorated, clean and quiet. As Kimpton Karma members, we were...

Dear William20142014, Thank you for such a kind review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay so much. Yes, we will happily oblige in switching your room, if you want. We want you to be happy. Since it has become a standard in the industry to not give guests new towels unless they are left on the floor, we don’t...

We visited Hotel Monaco in San Francisco for 4 nights in June. It was a lovely hotel, staff were friendly, especially the lovely door man who was very helpful with directions. The room was clean but quite small. We didn't spend much time in the room so this wasn't a big problem for us. The room was very quiet at...

Dear Stephy789, You said so many great things about us that I don’t understand why you would want to stay anywhere else if you came back. You know for certain that we are great, but you are only guessing that the other hotels might be as good. Please rethink this and make sure you stay with us, again, on your...

Dear Tim R, I, also, responded to this on Yelp, so I apologize for the redundancy. I am sorry to hear the bed was not comfortable for you. The beds are only 1.5 years old. And the fact that the towels smelled like a “bad gym” is unacceptable. I will follow up on that. Most hotels our size don’t even...

I love Monaco hotels, and this one is definitely on par with all the other ones that I love. It's blocks from everywhere we want to be. The lobbies are posh and comfy. The staff is excellent and friendly. The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable, but very small, which is understandable because it's a historic building.

Dear zeldawannabe, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We have a couple of different sized rooms at this hotel, so please feel free to ask and we can walk you through the different types. Some rooms are definitely smaller than others.
