We stayed in one of the non-renovated rooms on the 2nd floor. The room was old, but clean and comfortable. No complaints about the decor or quality as we knew it was not one of the newer rooms. The location was within minutes of union square and extremely accessible to the cable car and BART. Tons of great food options... More

A nice hotel close to the center of San-Francisco. The downtown area, Chinatown and many other gems of this beautiful city are within a walk's distance, and if you'll be able to figure out public transportation you'll get everywhere even faster. Hotel itself is quite nice. Room was big enough and had everything I needed (except for good cable TV... More

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I booked the Hotel Vertigo. Some reviews were glowing, others not so much. I took a chance, and luckily, I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, the place is bright, welcoming, clean, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and always greeted guests when they passed by. The location was fine. Some people get stuck on... More

Hotel Vertigo is our new go-to San Francisco hotel. It's a brilliant boutique hotel with incredible rates for SF. Literally our only gripe was that we didn't like the air freshener the maids used. Otherwise it was perfect. Here are some specifics: LOCATION: Between the Tenderloin and Nob Hill, so a little shabby, but central, safe, and walking distance to... More

The hotel was clean and in a great location. It’s located 4 or 5 blocks from Union Square where you can pick up the cable car. We walked to fisherman’s wharf which is definitely a hike but was well worth it as you can see all the beautiful houses on the way. It’s mostly downhill on the way but take... More

Researched quite a bit before booking this, and it paid off. This was a great value, the rooms are nicely decorated as it has been renovated, in-room amenities are okay, but nothing spectacular. We really liked the location, a short walk from Union Square, but far enough that the cafes and restaurants were not really tourist-focused.

Stayed at the Vertigo for only a few days. I was advised that it wasn't possible to find a nice hotel for less than $100 a day, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the hotel was very nice, the room small but not cramped, the front desk staff helpful and friendly -- all for $79 a night. The neighborhood... More

Fab little hotel only 10 min walk from union square! We had one of the renovated rooms as shown on their website, which was quirky but fab! It has the original hitchcock staircase still in use, and constantly plays the film Vertigo in the lobby haha! The staff were really friendly, and our experience couldnt be faulted, but on exploring... More

I loved the vibe of the hotel - it was clean and modern with a mix of fabulous heritage. The staff were really friendly and there is a 24 hour reception, however I understand that while I was there the restaurant was closed so there wasn't any access to room service. Having said that, the hotel is conveniently located right... More

The Vertigo is a small hotel in a good location for touring the city. There is no dining room but there are a good selection of places to eat nearby
