Excellent hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff, great decor and facilities and walkable from the centre of town (with care about your route!). The staff particularly are great, and helped us out hugely during our stay. Just a couple of minutes walk away is one of the most amazing churches on the planet, St Mary's, go check it! The Opal...

Even though they are in the process of remodeling The Opal, it is a historic, and remarkable hotel. It is on Van Ess Ave. , and we never had to take our car. We rode the bus right from the door anywhere we needed to go in San Francisco. It is a historic and beautiful hotel. The rooms are small,...

Staff are always friendly! The building is a bit dated, but they are renovating; never bothered by any noise. Excited to see the finished rooms, new decour when completed. Great food locations: Mel's Diner, Franks (best pastrami I ever had!!) and an Afghani restaurant steps away. Short walk or taxi/uber to the Theatre district and the Civic Center. Would be...

I stayed here in the end on August 2016 for a work related trip. The front desk was not able to find my reservation upon check in, even with the confirmation number, email address or credit card used. Thankfully they did have a room available. The room was small, it had the bed, TV, tiny bathroom and a wardrobe. There...

My friend and I found The Opal through a booking site and I was unsure of what to expect for the unbelievably low price I paid. Location is right in the middle of the city. Upon check-in, front desk gave us a free upgrade from a single to a double bed room, which was nice. The free wine & cheese...

Spent three nights at The Opal and wasn't disappointed. The staff were friendly and helpful, however during busy check-in times only having one person at the desk wasn't ideal. I was on the ground floor, and could hear a bit of traffic but it wasn't unbearable. Bed was very large and comfortable. A free continental breakfast is offered. This includes...

The Opal is convienuently located in a central location, close to Fisherman's Wharf, museums, driverse restaurants, and the historic Fillmore. Great value with it's charming, clean rooms with secure overnight parking availablr. Friendly knowledgeable staff was a plus. Claudia, Roger, and Marnie were especially helpfully but everyone was welcoming. We'll be back.
