I booked this hotel while already in San Francisco in the middle of the night from another hotel, which had been very poor and scary experience for me. I arrived at 8 am after sleepless night with. I breakfast and at reception I was greeted with smile and kindness. My goal was to leave my luggage until 3 pm when...

We have spent 3 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed our stay there. It is a lovely hotel, very clean and stuff very friendly and helpful. The closest station for the Bart train is Civic Centre and it's about 15/20 min walking. I have read a lot of reviews about homeless ppl and not sure what is the matter...

I like the Opal Hotel because it's vintage, centrally located to the CBD, Union Square and a good walk to admire all the Victorian buildings in the area. Marnie, the receptionist guy was very helpful to us and gave us lots of suggestions/options to do during our 3-day stay in San Francisco. Our room is clean, spacious, quiet, well secured...

This hotel is run down, the rooms are dirty- except the sheets (those seemed clean). The A/C was not properly working and therefore we were sweating. The front desk is not helpful at all! It is in a VERY BAD neighborhood. On the street behind the hotel there is a food bank, and therefore attract a lot of homeless to...

My daughter and I stayed at The Opal last weekend when we flew to San Francisco to celebrate her birthday and see the show Hamilton. I mentioned that it was my daughter's birthday when I made the reservation, and to our delight, there was a birthday cake and a balloon crown waiting in our room when we checked in. There...

We've been staying here for a few days while our rental apartment is being arranged. The staff are super helpful and friendly. We had to opportunity to move to their newly renovated 5th floor and it was lovely. It's easy to get around SF from the hotel eith either public transport or Uber/Lyft and there a couple of nice cafes...

I stayed here for 10 nights and it's very well located in SF, it is a walkable distance to all major sites and attractions. Room was clean, warm and well sized. Quick check in although the staff weren't very friendly and never offered any maps or suggestions. However due to an accounting issue when I arrived back home to the...

Arrived at The Opal tired after a long flight. The hotel was quiet, clean and was perfect for us. This is an older hotel that's being renovated one floor at a time, I believe. We weren't bothered by noise because we were out of there during the day. The things that are most important to me are: clean, good location, quiet, decent price by comparison. Everything is gravy after that. So the gravy was breakfast included (not fancy, no...

The Opal is clean, with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are large and comfortable (we were upgraded without asking). Breakfast is basic - prepare and clean up yourself - but it is adequate, especially at the price of the room. The one thing I wasn't happy about was that the rubbish was not being properly sorted.
