The service here was good, they always got me where I wanted to go. But when ever I spoke to them they always seemed to speak back to me as though I was wasting their time. The room was ok, it smelt of bleach when I first walked in but it was always well maintained when I came back of...

the hotel might look a bit dated but was clean, the staff I spoke to were polite and helpful, the area where the hotel is, has some beggers there but was not a problem, the busses and cable cars stop outside so you can get down to the docks Alcatraz and golden gate await you there I stopped for 3...

Seemingly this hotel was once a pretty good hotel but its not a hotel I would chose to stay at again. Service was pretty slow at best, when arriving the receptionist was making a personal call and did not mind all that much that allot of people were waiting to check in and we did not get any help with...

Some one that I know recommended the HOTEL WHITCOMB,at the beginning I did not like the area, but the amazing people that work at that place, I totally change my perception of that hotel. I stayed a total of 3 day and believe me No ONE know San Francisco like "Harvey" does, he was so helpful with everything we needed....

While the area is less than perfect, the hotel is wonderful. It is absolutely beautiful! So much architecture to admire. The lobby is stunning. The hallways narrow, the rooms are small, both of which take you back to a different time. I truly enjoyed the hotel from the minute we walked in. Our room was small, but cozy. The bed...

We stayed at the Hotel Whitecomb in July, for 3 nights, our party was made up of 3 families, with children ages ranging from 7 months to 13. We flew into San Fran from Ft. Lauderdale, and while we arrived to a computer issue that delayed our check in process our stay was nothing but a positive experiance. The staff...

This historic hotel was clean with a friendly staff, but I wouldn't stay there again. It is in a bad section of San Francisco with many homeless who appeared to be on drugs, and doesn't have room service or a pool - which it should for the price. The restaurant located in the hotel lobby was very nice with delicious...

Second stay at The Whitcomb. Excellent stay, and the housekeeping staff was outstanding. Conference banquet food was first rate. Elevators are very slow at certain times of the day. Hotel location leaves a bit to be desired, but it was perfect for our purposes since our conference was about 6 blocks away. Good transportation is very close by. Excellent follow...

Yes, the area is a bit dodgy, but the hotel is wonderful once inside. The lobby is elegant and gorgeous with beamed ceiling and large chandeliers. Elevators are small as one would expect in an older building, but the hallways are enormous. Rooms are also on the small side. In our room, the closet and bathroom were the same size...

Hotel Whitcomb is in the Market Street theater district, a seedy part of San Francisco. I was apprehensive but once inside the hotel we found it to be lovely with elegant turn-of-the-century decor. We enjoyed a clean well-appointed spacious room with a comfortable bed. Being able to park onsite was very convenient and economical and having Starbucks off the lobby...

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
