Stayed at the hotel for a city trip and for that its location directly at San Franciscos Union Square is perfect. Stations for subway, bus and cable car are only a few minutes away and of course you can find diners, restaurants and supermarkets as...More
It was important for us to not be in a chain. We like family run establishments and this family knows its hospitality. We were thoroughly impressed. From the front desk welcoming and efficiency to the decor and size of our room. We loved it all....More
Enjoyed my second stay at the Handlery in July 2017. It is a charming older hotel in a phenomenal location with very competitive rates. My room was attractive, comfortable, and spotlessly clean, with great wifi. I love that it is family owned, and not part...More
Great location. Take BART to Powell station, approx $10,00m then 10 minutes to walk towards Union Square
I felt that the value for price is average. But it is ok, other places in this district are way more expensive
Central to Union Square so excellent for shopping and transport links. Rooms are comfortable and clean . Reception staff were helpful a great hotel for a few nights in the city. Breakfast was available and was good value . Would stay again.
Originally home to rallies supporting the Union Army in the Civil War, this grand square has become the city's premier shopping and entertainment district containing the largest number of upscale department stores, chic boutiques, art galleries and theatres in the city. It's a large open area where tourists and locals gather, watch cable cars and crowds go by, enjoy a snack, or plan their day of shopping and
sightseeing, If feeling the pulsating energy of the city is on your agenda, Union Square is the place to soak it in.

It is an older type hotel and I would not really rate the breakfast too much but the location is great and walking distance to plenty ... we were here as a family for 3 nights and given the price of accommodation in San Francisco it was fine. Enjoy your holiday!!

Hi there, the other responses pretty well answer your questions with thee caption that you need to ask for a room in the new section of the hotel. The old section's room are lovely but extremely small and often with views of brick walls. We had the end room on the top floor [level 4 I think] facing O'Farrell Street which gave us a nice view of street and it had had a small balcony overlooking the pool. Added bonus it was a great size. That sounds perfect for you guys. It was little noisy with the a/c motors on the roff a fews stories below but close the sliding doors and all good to sleep peacefully. Hope this helps.

"Ask for a room off the Main Street as it can be a little noisy"
