We booked Cornell Hotel very last minute, when there weren't too many other accommodation options, so were pleasantly surprised to find we loved it! It's charming, quaint, and all staff are so helpful and courteous. Of particular note is the amazing decor! Every inch of space is beautifully decorated in French art or antiques, and the walls themselves even have...

Dear MissKT76, So happy you appreciated our establishment and wrote a long good comment praising it. Thank you for all these good words. Very pleased that you liked the way we decorated hotel and restaurant which is very rewarding for us. Yes, the small ladies serving breakfast, all smile, are wonderful. We shall compliment them on your behalf...And... if we...

Exceptional service from entire staff! Hotel has great character and feels like a five star bed and breakfast establishment. Everything was perfect! My son and I stayed for two nights. Plenty of room, beds were incredibly comfortable, and we had everything we needed. The included breakfasts were awesome! The staff gladly stored our bags on the day of checkout so...

Excellent location. We stayed in a room overlooking Bush Street. It was ideal. Very handy to Union Square and all the shopping and restaurants bars etc. Cable car was only a few metres away from the hotel entrance.

This is a lovely friendly hotel just two minutes from Union Square, cable cars, shops and restaurants. It feels as if you are staying with friends. It is like a Parisian City hotel with full complementary breakfast, all day coffee and a unique lift. We will definitely visit again.

I had a lovely stay at Cornell Hotel de France! The hotel is a hidden gem in the city of San Francisco. First, the location is superb. The trolley lines on Powell Street make it convenient to catch any type of transportation to different parts of the city. I loved the old world charm and special touches of paintings around...

We enjoyed another wonderful and relaxing 3 days in SF and at the Cornell. This is an old but charming hotel that is very clean. Loved the hand painted artwork throughout the hotel which added to the charm. Breakfast every morning was delightful. Enjoyed the breakfast staff and food that greeted us every morning. Eggs, pancakes, omelets, French toast, hot...

We had an enjoyable 3 night stay. The best thing about the hotel was the super location. The trolley line goes right by on Powell to Fisherman's wharf, and we could walk to the Bart for getting to the airport (although going from the Bart to the airport would be all up hill!). The room was small, but clean and...

I told my wife I would surprise her so the pressure was on. I spent 3 months reading Tripadvisor reviews for San Francisco hotels. Most important was location. Next was cleanliness and last was price. Union Square area was perfect, we were able to walk to most of the sites and planned accordingly for Cable Car use. The entire establishment...

We really enjoyed our stay here. It's a nice, small (70 rooms?) hotel, more on the European b/b style, and very comfortable. Lovely beds, nice bathroom (cute claw footed tub/shower), very clean. Very fast complimentary wi-fi, always a plus. Cute help-yourself cafe by reception with coffee, tea, cookies. Staff there are really nice and super helpful. Love the antique style...

Nice older hotel with lots of charm. No air conditioning but that was not a problem as the windows open easily allowing cross breezes. The elevator is an old style elevator with a sliding scissor door. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There is a small restaurant on the ground floor. There is also a small lounge with reading materials...
