I'm writing this as I'm currenty in my room at the hotel Carlton. It's a great little place, really friendly helpful staff, it's clean & has everything you would want in a mid range hotel, They have a cute free wine time, a happy hour every day between 5:30-6:30, gets you pretty drunk if you stay the full hour. Location...

We stayed in the Carlton for two short trips at the beginning and end of an Archers Tour Holiday in May. On both occasions we found the rooms well equiped clean and comfortable, both times we were at the back so there was no street noise. It was quite difficult to choose a hotel. I searched for weeks for a hotel that would suit me and my son properly during his fall break. After 5 days staying at Hotel Carlton, I was very glad I had made the right choice. This boutique hotel is very nice. Rooms have a very decent size for San Francisco standards...

this was a great little find in San Fran. The room was just the right size for a couple. The building has a very interesting history (surviving the great earthquake and as a speak easy). They offer a free afternoon wine and music hour. Instead of water bottles, they give you a very nice pitcher to fill up with filtered...

A friend and I stayed at the Hotel Carlton on our first visit to San Francisco. I had read the reviews here first, and looking back, they seem to be spot on. We had no trouble finding the place as we drove in from Route 80 and the guys at the front desk were fantastic. My girl friend and I...

Given that this hotel is a moderately priced, older property, I didn't expect it to be well-appointed but I also didn't expect it to be so worn and a bit dirty. I asked to be moved from the first room I was assigned to (216) because the bathroom tub was completely stained and streaked a brownish-gray color, paint was peeling...

We stayed here on the way back from S.E. Asia, and were looking for a hotel that was reasonably-priced and close to Japantown. The Hotel Carlton turned out to be an excellent choice, about 6-8 blocks away, and close to Van Ness and Union Square. A little older hotel, but our room was nice. The person who checked us in...

This remodeled old hotel has good-sized rooms, great views (even out the back, even on the third floor); great breakfast and wine reception, great price, great staff. It was clean and beds very comfortable. Walls a little thin but not bad. The cute old radiator made weird noises and we had to figure out how to get it turned off....
