Small, dingy room with no AC; had to prop open one broken window with a book in order to aerate. The bathroom was very small; wallpaper was tres 70's, with dreadful wooden cupboards. Time to turn on the TV? Analogue picture that reminded me of...More
Beautiful entrance lobby, with painted panelled walls and chandeliers. Furnishings throughout were authentic giving an old time hotel atmosphere that we had hoped for. The interiors were as good as they look on the hotel's website.

The Beresford Arms is a comfortable, clean , well presented hotel. Rooms are large. Wifi works well. The place has an old world charm, that does feel a bit dated. All in all very good given price and location.
The price for this hotel is very reasonable in an expensive city. The hotel is situated on post street just a 5 minutes walk from union square.

The hotel does not have AC but it is rare for the city to get so hot that you would need it. Summer in SF is very moderate and you are more likely to use heat than air con, even during the summer months. The hotel is lovely so don't be
discouraged by the lack of air conditioning.
And yes, the hotel has elevators.
Pretty safe during the day, but wouldn't risk it at night. Lots of homeless living in the area. We picked up a cab from Fisherman's Wharf and it cost about $10 to get back there. Be sure to ask for a quiet room

"High quiet room at the back was our request which proved fine"
