San Francisco is an expensive city, and it's getting worse. This hotel is okay if you just want somewhere to lay your head. This property is showing its age, it could do with some TLC. Make sure you ask clearly about room rate, you may get a shock..

Renoir Hotel M, Director of Sales at San Francisco Proper, responded to this review

For those who have not yet been updated on the more recent developments surrounding the Renoir Hotel, it was closed in April 2013 to undergo a major renovation. A major fire delayed the construction activity in August 2015. The renovation is currently still underway, and the hotel will supposedly reopen under a different name sometime in 2017.

San Francisco crams a lot of people into a small area, so real estate is expensive. As in every big city, some areas are more desirable than others. Renoir Hotel is moderately priced, but that is not to say it is cheap. You can get a good deal on some of the smaller rooms. The district is not great, but...

I stayed here for my birthday last year. Got a top floor room with two twin beds and a view of a methadone clinic. I could care less. The purpose of our hotel was a place to sleep and have a hot shower. Service was friendly and informative. We had a blast in and out of our room. Even saw...

Unfortunately this hotels best years are long gone and whilst its location is not bad and room rates very reasonable, we struggled to get a good nights sleep. Our room was ok but the noisy heating system was simply annoying and if your room is on the Market street side be prepared to being kept awake by the homeless down...

In a central location within walking distance of City Hall and other sights, this is a dated hotel in housed in an old building. Do not expect modern rooms nor fixtures but the rooms are reasonable for the price they charge. The street noise can be disturbing for some even if you keep the windows closed.

Outside was full of homeless, drunks and God knows what...

it's realy not easy to rate this hotel, yes, the elevators are broken most of the time; outside you have homeless guys which you should just ignore. the rooms are outdated and across the street you have one of the bigger stripclubs/tabledance clubs in san francisco.... BUT somehow this hotel has it's own charm, it's cheap and it's right in...

The place was dirty, the blanket where disgusting and the people at the reception they really did not care about customer at all!! Outside was full of homeless, drunks and...

I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights in January 2013 as part of a 3 centre holiday. It was the worst 5 nights ever. The hotel is sub standard, dirty and noisy. Our group had 3 double rooms and all of them were awful with the bath is such a disgusting state that none of us were able to...

Anyone who says this place is anything other than aweful is an employee of the hotel. This hotel is so dirty and rat infested that I checked out in the middle of the night with my family. The front desk was so unprofessional and the location was so undesirable. Homeless people all over the place and you hear sirens all...
