This hotel is odd - clear attempt to be current and hip but common areas and rooms are outdated and appear to have been untouched since the 80's. The earplugs by the bed were a bad omen and it was loud with cable car running below. Walls are thin if you have an adjoining room door you are not using....

Thank you for choosing to stay with the Stanford Court! I am sorry to hear that the hip trendy vibe wasn’t what you were expecting. Guests do love our Nod Hill program which does offer the ear plugs and many other amenities to keep our travelers happy that aren’t used to the urban noise of the city. If for any...

We stayed for our 30th anniversary. The hotel is in an ideal location and right on the trolley line. I know some people complain about the trolley sounds, but I thought it added to the charm of a stay in SF. For those who might be bothered, the hotel supplies ear plugs. The staff was very friendly and helpful. David...

Good place to stay and within walking distance of Union Square, although walking back to the hotel is a bit of a climb for the older generation. Hotel is pricey but in a nice part of town and the area felt safe.

Everything went well. No problems. I would stay there again. Good central location. Service was good. We did not get a chance to eat at the hotel so I cannot give an opinion regarding quality. Trolley car in the front.

I love this hotel and stay at it every time I am in San Francisco. It is clean, well designed with friendly staff and a beautiful setting close to the Cathedral on Nob Hill. The rooms are quiet and the courtyard entrance is very nice. Breakfast buffet delicious if a little bit pricey. Valet staff is super friendly.

Looking at the courtyard and drive up, you expect to be walking into a charming, luxurious, San Francisco gem worthy of its 4 Star rating. After checkin and you head up stairs, what you get once you step off the elevator is a completely different story. Let me start with the hallways- a parade of dirty dingy carpeting and walls/trim...

Thank you for your review. The designation of four stars go way beyond the physical property. Yes we are in need of a renovation and our yellow corridor carpets are dingy and worn. Our beds are in perfect condition and furnishings need renovating. This should not be confused with being low-end. Nothing at Stanford Court is low-end. Discerning travelers looking...

Highly recommended, great looking hotel, the staff was very professional and rooms are tops. It's hard to nitpick any flaws with this hotel, but if I had to, it's that its a bit a way from union square. Although the use of trams easily eliminate this.

This hotel is nice. Sort if expensive. The restaurant and parking is pretty expensive, but staff was really nice. The area was very nice. The history of this area is so interesting. Most of the buildings used to be mansions. Will stay there again.

This is a great hotel in a great location, on the tram line. Couple of blocks from Chinatown and tram journey to fisherman's wharf. Overall good service provided. Well appointed room and everyone slept well. I would definitely stay again next time I'm in San Francisco.

The hotel is located at the top of Nob Hill. Convenient if you'd like to take the Trolley. Otherwise you either have to take a taxi or navigate the very steep hills going either up or down. There was some construction going on in the hotel and we could hear -all day until about 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. constant hammering...

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
