The location is great if you are looking for the Haight Ashbury experience. Located right across from Golden Gate Park and two blocks from Haight puts you pretty much right in the middle of a lot of alternative lifestyles, interesting people and the beauty of...More
The location is the best thing about this hotel. I recommend staying in a room at the front of the property (if you don’t mind some street noise) for the lovely view of the trees in Golden Gate Park and the fog rolling in over...More
Such an unpleasant first impression--the foyer and dining room carpets are badly, badly stained. We were tempted to forfeit our room charge and walk out. The room, however, was lovely. In the far back of the hotel, the room was well maintained and very quiet....More
Ok Victorian hotel. Clean rooms. Shabby public areas. Wine and cheese event is overrated. Wifi in the suites is extremely bad. Fine breakfast. Nice restaurants in the area. The surroundings are a little scary with many homeless people in Golden Gate Park.

The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time.
A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
